HARUYO (ITO) SWEENEY Haruyo (Ito) Sweeney, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on May 2, 2016 at the age of 82, surrounded by her family. She passed knowing she was deeply loved and cherished. She was born in Nagoya, Japan, on February 22, 1934, where she lived until she met her loving husband and embarked on a 63-year journey. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and quietly lived her life with grace and dignity. She is survived by her loving husband, Bernard; a son, Jimmy (Christine); daughters, Patty (Bill) Mathews, Monica (Allen) Hirai; and her two grandchildren, Christen Hirai and Brett Mathews. In keeping with her wishes, a private service was held with her immediate family. We are forever grateful to Queen's Geriatrics and the staff at Manoa Senior Care for the kind and compassionate care they provided my mother as she bravely fought to overcome the cruel effects of a stroke. Her one wish was to walk once again, and today we are confident she is blissfully walking with the angels.
