Ernie Cruz Sr., 76, of Glendale, Ariz., formerly of Hawaii, a singer, songwriter and entertainer, former pastor at New Hope Church Puna and a Marine Corps veteran, died in Glendale. He was born in Modesto, Calif. He is survived by wife Maggie; sons Ernie Jr., David, John and Anthony Cruz, and Guy Lawrence; daughters Ernelle Downs, Desiree and Sarah Cruz, Stephanie Tyrin, Marissa Meredith, Tiffany Garza and Connie Rincon; sisters Dorothy Macias, Linda Bettincourt and Rita Cabusus; 17 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Celebration of life at a later date.
