HELEN O.S. UYEHARA
HELEN O.S. UYEHARA Helen O.S. Uyehara, age 89, passed away on April 20, 2016, while playing at the Keno machines in Las Vegas. She was with her son, Dennis and daughter-in-law, Phyllis. She was born on March 28, 1927 and lived on the pineapple plantation in Molokai during her childhood and later moved to Honolulu, where she met and married her husband of almost 60 years, Albert Uyehara. Helen worked for over 40 years as a waitress at the Surf Room in the "Pink Palace" (Royal Hawaiian Hotel). She loved to go to Las Vegas as often as she could and play video poker and Keno. Helen loved her family and her dogs and took care of everyone around her. She remained active to the end, still cooking special dinners for her sons and dogs every day. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Uyehara, and is survived by sons, Dennis and Daniel Uyehara; daughter, Carole Uyehara Jewik of Alamo, California; grandchildren, Sherry Gaillard, Jonathan, Connor, and Ryan Jewik; great grandson, Owen Gaillard; brothers, James Lim of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and David and Kenneth Kim of Las Vegas, Nevada. Private services held.
