Alexander “Alex” Freitas
$nameCSM (RET) ALEXANDER ALEX FREITAS Alexander "Alex" Freitas 83, of Mililani Hawaii, retired U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major (CSM) passed away, May 4, 2016 at Aloha Care Nursing & Rehab. He was born in Holualoa, Kona, Hawaii August 24, 1932, to the late Manuel and Josephine Ako Freitas. He was the fourth child of 10 children. He leaves his sons, Gordon and Alexander Jr. (Alika) and wife Edilyn, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His surviving siblings are brother James (Linda) Freitas - Kauai. Sisters, Melvine (Donna) Kuali'i of Kona and Margaret (Herbert- deceased) Isaacs of Oahu and Myrtle Bush of Kona. Alex was preceded in death by his wife Evangeline Freitas and daughter Daryljean Freitas and recently by his daughter-in-law Cherry Freitas. Alex served proudly in the United States Army for 35 years. He served gallantly in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He also served as the 9th Infantry Division CSM and the I Corps CSM. Finishing his prominent military career as the CSM for the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) at Fort Shafter, Honolulu, Oahu. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on June 25th at Waianae Sacred Heart Church, 85-786 Old Government Rd, Waianae 96792. No flowers. Contact: Margaret Isaacs 808-258-7012
