Masaru "Mamo" Hamakawa, 83, of Hilo, a retired federal government engineer and an Air Force veteran, died in Life Care Center of Hilo. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by son Glen, daughter Lisa Shaw, brothers Fumio and Kiyoshi, sister Tsuyuko Blackwood and five grandchildren. Visitation: 3 p.m. Aug. 7 at Dodo Mortuary. Services: 4 p.m. Casual attire. No flowers. No monetary offerings.
