VIOLET A. CHONG
$nameVIOLET A. CHONG Violet Au Chong, 92, of Honolulu, died at her Kahala Nui Senior Living Center residence on August 23, 2016. She was born in Honolulu and graduated from McKinley High School. She married her husband William A.W. Chong in 1944, and both worked as civilian employees at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard until their retirement. Violet was a devoted wife and a quiet, steady supporter of her husband William in his social activities, starting with the Pearl Harbor Alumni Workers Association, then as early organizers and supporters of the Aina Haina Community Ballroom Dance Association, and during the time that William served on the Board of Directors of the Pearl Harbor Federal Credit Union. She is survived by her daughter Wilona S.L. Chong, her sons Leighton K.M. Chong and Malcolm K.L. Chong, and grandchildren Tyler O. Chong and Lauren C. Chong.
