Dale Crissey De Butts
Dale Crissey De ButtsDale Crissey De Butts, 95, passed away November 15, 2016. He is predeceased by his parents, Dean Jamison De Butts and Mildred Crissey De Butts; and siblings, James (Maxine) and Thomas (Maria) De Butts, and Jeanne (Gordon) Gimple. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Anne Hudson De Butts; sons, David Alan, Thomas Monteith (Melissa) and James Hudson (Lynn) De Butts; Grandchildren, Kathleen Compton (Kevin), Carrie Ward (Josh) and Cameron Sweet; and Great-Grandchild, Clara Compton; as well as nieces and nephews. Dale was born December 14, 1920 in Dallas, TX and grew up in Oak Park, IL where he became a life-long Chicago Cubs fan. He served in the Pacific during WWII as a Navy flight engineer and gunner where he flew 92 combat missions in seven major actions and was awarded three Distinguished Flying Crosses. After graduation from Iowa State University in 1948 he taught at the Kamehameha School for Boys in Honolulu Hawaii. In 1959 he took his family to Thailand to establish vocation training schools under a University of Hawaii contract. In 1965 Dale began a long career as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State serving in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Egypt and Oman. He and Patricia retired to Lake of the Woods, Virginia. Dale was a member of various organizations including the American Foreign Service Assn., Beta Theta Pi fraternity, Sons of the American Revolution, General Society of Mayflower Descendants and the Distinguished Flying Cross Society. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016 in Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.
