Shizuko (Mom, Grandma, Grandma- ma) peacefully passed away on October 31, 2016 at home, just 2 1/2 months shy of her 104th birthday. She was born in Honolulu on January 16, 1913. Mom looked after her family generously with love, tender care and had a great sense of humor. Predeceased by her husband, Gunichi and sons, David and Ernest. She is survived by sons, Vernon (Ethel), Dennis (Katherine); daughters, Frances (Walter) Hirakawa, Mildred Makino, Inez (Kenneth) Koga; daughter-in-law, Ethel Yamamoto; sisters, Yoshiko Takemori, Shirley Iha; 12 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; 8 great-great- grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff of St. Francis Hospice, especially Dr. Naomi Morita and Homecare nurse Marissa. Mahalo to Didi, her evening caregiver. Private services held.
