FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

ALICE KAM KWAI YAP LAU
ALICE KAM KWAI YAP LAU99, of Honolulu, passed away January 8, 2017. Born January 4, 1918 to Wong Moi Yap and Yap Lin, she was the third of eight children. Graduating from McKinley High School in 1936, she then attended Cannon's Business School. Upon completion, she worked two jobs-the first at her father's restaurant "The Regular Shop" at King and Alakea Street, and a second at Castle & Cooke. She eventually met her soul mate, Arthur Quon Wing Lau, and they were married on May 23, 1942. After 17 blissful years of marriage, she was unexpectedly widowed in 1959, leaving her to raise seven children. Through the tremendous help and support of the Lau and Wong relatives, she managed to take over the operation of the family's banana and ti leaf farm located in Manoa Valley. For the next 20 years, she sold her products to many of Hawaii's businesses such as Hilton Hawaiian Village, Queen's Surf, Haili's Hawaiian Foods, Unique Lunchroom, Chun Hoon Market and Young's Fish Market. Alice is preceded in death by husband Arthur and son Steven. She is survived by sons Dennis (Tina), Colin (Diane), Michael (Carol) and John (Julie); daughters Ann Pang (Gary) and Bernadette Ono; grandsons Gregory Lau (Erin), Ryan Lau, and Jonathan Lau; granddaughters Christine Suehiro (Garrett), Nichole Nakamura (Travis), Corey Ann Lau, Meagan Judd (Martin), Jaeda Pang Antonio (Dion), Jeanine Pang-Rubianes (Ryan), Julia Pang, Alyssa Ono, Michelle Ono, Emily Ono, Catherine Lau, Alia Lau and Celeste Lau; and nine great grandchildren.
