Marie Shizuko Acena, 82, of Honolulu, passed away on January 18, 2017. Born in Wailuku, Maui, she was a 30-year employee of the Rainbow Lanai Restaurant at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort. She is survived by her daughter Catherine (Linda); granddaughter Shari Carter; great-grandsons Zachary and Ethan; sisters Gladys Yamaguchi of Wailuku, Maui and Betty Miyahira of Cerritos, California. Celebration of life service will be held at Borthwick Mortuary on February 19, 2017, visitation from 9:30am, service at 10:30am. Burial on February 21, 2017, at 2pm at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Borthwick Mortuary.

WILLIAM William "Billy" Beter, 57, passed away on January 26, 2017, in Pearl City. He was born in Honolulu on February 6, 1959, and graduated from Pearl City High School in 1977. He was a flooring layer by trade. Bill loved the ocean, was an avid surfer and an original member of the HIC surf team. He had a sweet disposition and was loved by many. Bill is survived by a son, Tyler Beter-Larimore, grandson Skyler Beter-Larimore and hanai daughter, Stevie Kealoha. He also leaves behind brothers Douglas, Norman (Melva), Pathrick (Lily) and sisters Rowena (Danny) Obrero and Maile Beter and many nieces and nephews. We will be celebrating a memory of his life at Nimitz Cove Pavilion #1814 and #1817 on Friday, February 24, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a paddle out to say Aloha. Beach/casual attire.

Mook-lan Mui Fan94, of Honolulu passed away on Feb 13, 2017. Born May 8, 1922 in Chicago, she lived in Florida, Washington, Texas, China and Cuba as a child and spent most of her adult life in the NY area. She received her BA from Pomona College and her MSW from UC Berkeley. She worked with an adoption agency finding families for children, and later for Lighthouse International in Westchester supporting the blind. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Chung Teh Fan, and returned to Honolulu in 1985. She is survived by her brother, Thomas L. Mui (Lois Thom) of Honolulu, and daughters Ada (Peter Warsaw) and Linda (Will Schaefer), and five grandchildren Arianna Rauch (Stephan), Ralph Schaefer, Marina Warsaw-Fan, Fred Schaefer and George Schaefer. A memorial service will be held at Arcadia, 1434 Punahou Street, on Friday, Feb 17 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arcadia Employees Holiday Fund or Hawaii Public Radio/Public Television.
