Benjamin Bernabe MataBenjamin Bernabe Mata 81, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on February 15, 2017. Benjamin was born on March 1, 1935 in Waipahu, Hawai'i to the late Julian Mata and Filomena Paulino. Benjamin served in the United States Air Force before retiring as a Technical Sergeant on September 1, 1976. He loved to bowl and achieved two perfect games of 300 in his love of the sport. His passion was fishing for salt water fish, or on the shores of fresh water lakes while the Sun rises from the east with calm rippling waves, hours of boating in fresh breezes under the warmth of the Sun and spending time with his family and friends. Benjamin is survived by his children daughter Jane Mata and son Melvin James Mata, granddaughter Ashleigh Jadelynn Barinque, his brothers and sisters Jimmie (Cynthia) Paulino, Sue Paulino Mayonado, Alfred (Katie) Paulino Sr. , Geri Paulino and Joey (Michelle) Paulino . He is preceeded in passing by his wife Pearline Mata and parents. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with a rosary conducted at 2:00 p.m.. Funeral Services Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.. All services will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
