H. Royce Uhani Hau'oli Laka Baginski was born on March 3, 1995 and passed away on September 21, 2016. Royce was a beautiful son and brother, amazing father and a good friend. He attended Lanikai Elementary, Kailua Intermediate, Kalaheo High and graduated from Olde Columbine High in Colorado. Royce was an avid athlete, natural waterman and fearless surfer. His athletic skills were natural and fluid. He participated in Club soccer and High school soccer and football, lettering in both. Royce leaves behind his beloved daughter Emma, Jennifer McMahon, Parents, John and Michele and brothers Xavier and Johnny. His Celebration of Life will be held on February 12, 2017 at Kalama Beach Club, 280 N. Kalaheo Ave. Paddle out at 1:30 p.m.; Prayer, sharing, food and music to follow. Damaso Allan Makahinu Barcarse10/09/1939 - 12/20/2016 Damaso Allan Makahinu Barcarse, passed away December 20, 2016 at Jordan Valley Medical Center, West Jordan, Utah surrounded by his wife, 3 sons, and 2 of his grandsons. After battling kidney and heart disease for more than 9 years, it was time for him to return to his Heavenly Father. Allan was born on October 09, 1939, to Damaso Flores Barcarse and Jessie Jacintho Souza Barcarse in the plantation town of Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii. In 1949 the family relocated to Waimea Valley "Smokey Valley" Kauai. Allan was the oldest son and second child of Damaso and Jessie. Allan and Toyoko were married in the LDS Hawaii Temple on August 31, 1963. They have three sons, Ross (Ipo), Richard, and Robert and have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Doris Choriki, Marjorie Umuiwi and Leona (Dean) Fukuyama, brothers, Malcolm (Betty Ann) Barcarse, Stanford (Dency) Barcarse, Alejandro (Deborah) Tejada and George Tejada. In July1959, Allan was called to serve in the LDS Northern Far East Mission. Allan was a life long educator. He taught Japanese language at Church College of Hawaii and University of Hawaii Lab School. He has also been a Hawaiian Studies, English, and Japanese language teacher at multiple schools in Hawaii. Allan was also featured in the NEA, National Education Association. Allan was also a life long entertainer. Allan studied hula under many hula masters. He was one of the original dancers at the Polynesian Cultural Center in 1963. The founder of Hula Halau Ka Ua Kilihune, Allan has taught hula around the world. In addition to Hawaii, Allan has students in Japan, Guam, Philippines, Chihuahua Mexico, and Amsterdam Holland. Allan entertained at numerous hotels and showrooms around Waikiki. He loved to help the youth of Hawaii. Allan has taken kids to Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, New Zealand, American and Western Samoa, Brazil, and Chihuahua Mexico. Allan has served the community of Hawaii as a participant and a judge at numerous hula festivals, a Varsity Scout Master, Special Olympics committee member, Junior Miss Hawaii Pageant Judge and a Hula instructor. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017. Visitation at 9:00 AM, Service at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, Kaneohe Stake Center Interrment Ceremony will be private.
