Passed away peacefully at the Queen's Medical Center on Monday, March 6, 2017 in Honolulu, Hawaii at the age of 79. Bob is survived by wife, Evelyn; Sons Robert & Wife Susan, and David & Wife Celia; Grandchildren, Erin, Robert, Roxanne, and David. He is preceded in death by Father Robert, Mother Mae, and Brother Roger. Bob was born on April 25, 1937 in Hilo, Hawaii. He attended Pahoa, Honokaa, Castle, and Nanakuli High schools, and graduated from Waipahu High School in 1955. In 1959 he graduated from Oregon State University (College) with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After a 3-year enlistment as Lieutenant Junior Grade in the U.S. Navy, he pursued a career as a Nuclear Engineer at the Pearl Harbor Naval Ship Yard working with nuclear submarines until his retirement in 1992. He spent his retirement tending to his coffee farm in Holualoa on the slopes of Hualalai on the Big Island, traveling the world with the love of his life, Evie, and doting on his grandchildren. Bob was an accomplished outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing and hunting, and was often successful in bringing something home for the table. Many summers were spent driving around the United States, Canada, and Mexico in their RV, and it was not unusual to find his grandkids tagging along on one of the adventures. He always kept a positive outlook on life all the way until his passing, and in his customary manner left quietly in the night. M. Wela Rosa passed away on November 22, 2016 in Anchorage, Alaska at the age of 81. He was born on September 7, 1935 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Wela was the owner & founder of Custom Ceramic Tile & known to be one of the best tile setters in Hawaii. His passion for hunting & traveling took him all over the world. He was one of the oldest members of the Safari Club International, Hawaii Chapter. He worked tirelessly & sacrificed so much to be able to always take care of his family, their families & to help someone in need, he especially could not bear to see anyone go hungry. He was brave, fearless & had the biggest heart that he shared with everyone, where ever he went. He treated & loved dear friends like family...most of all was his ultimate, never ending LOVE for his family. He is survived by his sons Michael & Alika Rosa, Tom Cornette, daughters Billie & Skylar Kennedy and Lara Cornette. Sister Ahuwena Naholowaa, numerous grandchildren & great- grand children. Ukiko Shiba Tanigawa, much loved by friends and family, passed February 28, 2017. Born on a strawberry and cantaloupe farm in Brawley, California, she spent early years on Terminal Island before attending high school in Manzanar Relocation Camp. She says she enjoyed her time there. Uki worked for the U. S. Occupation in Japan, teaching democratic principles. Through friends and experiences there, she became a lifelong fan of Japan and its people. After meeting Herbert Hayato Tanigawa at the University of Michigan, they moved to Honolulu, where Uki worked at Oahu Construction, joined the Hawaii Potters' Guild, and raised two children, Naomi Noe and Michael. Uki taught Japanese School and made sure her grand- children, Katie, Sam, Ming, and Cole, were surrounded both by Japanese culture and her own special joie de vivre.
