FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

James Wilson Tharp
James Wilson TharpNovember 22, 1942 - March 21, 2017 James Wilson Tharp, having achieved the lifelong goal of becoming an ornery curmudgeon, a dream he gleefully shared with his children and friends, declared himself successful and has exited the stage called Life. He passed away on March 21st, 2017 with his son by his side. While here, he was many things. Among them, he was a husband, an adoring son to a doting, beauty queen mother, a hard working attorney, an accomplished and award-winning actor of stage and silver screen, a proud father and brother-in-law, a fun-loving cousin and a dear friend. Jim's passion for community theater was a life long joy. He loved the long hours rehearsing, the challenges of bringing written characters to life and the give and take of impromptu performances with his fellow actors. He so appreciated the generosity of time and talent of those whose goals were "The show must go on". He will be remembered by his loved ones as someone who had a lifelong love of the arts. He shared his excitement for the wonders of film and scientific innovation with his daughter Jennifer, the enduring thrill of theater and baking with his daughter Juliana, and the rousing energy of music and an entrepreneurial spirit with his son Damien. Jim is survived by Jennifer Tharp (David Scalzo), Juliana Baguio, Damien Tharp (Mackenzie Elder), three grandsons, Gary and Pat Wassel, and cousins Tom Boyle, Michelle Boyle Spellins and Susan Boyle. In lieu of flowers, Jim's family asks that you make a donation to the performing arts theaters of Hawaii in which he felt very honored to entertain for you for so many years. Services will be private.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
