Rosalie Moi Lee Ho Hong Rosalie Moi Lee Ho Hong passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2017. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on November 6, 1912, she reached the golden age of 104. She was the youngest of 13 children, attended Chung Shan Chinese Language School and graduated from McKinley High School class of 1931. She helped her father in his grocery store and property rental businesses along Alapai and Beretania streets. Moi Lee became a housewife, community volunteer, educator, avid Kahala Mall walker, and United Chinese Society "Model Mother of the Year" in 2004. She taught at Island Paradise School and Sacred Hearts Academy. A loving wife, mother, Popo, sister, aunty, and friend, Moi Lee inspired 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The Hong Family was blessed to have had her in their lives for so many golden years. She was committed to bringing the family together and passing on Chinese traditions to the next generations. With a vibrant outgoing personality, Moi Lee was a positive role model who counted her blessings with a grateful heart. She continued to have and make new friends of all ages as people gravitated to her because of her zest for life. Interested in their lives, Moi Lee was also interesting to listen to with her many stories. Friends and people she met in the community were drawn to her and enjoyed being in her positive presence, many also hoping to absorb the magic secret of her healthy longevity and outlook on life. A gracious centenarian, Moi Lee was an inspiration to many. Her indomitable spirit will continue as we keep her in our hearts. In Heaven, Moi Lee joins her dear late husband, Dr. Gilbert Hong, to whom she was married for 65 years. Her beloved sons Stanley (Karen) and Michael (Geriann) and son-in-law Alex Leong (Tina). She is survived by daughters Laurie (Alfred) Wong, Tina Leong and son Stephen. Our family is grateful for the many relatives, friends and caregivers who extended their love and kindness in so many ways that contributed to her well-being and full life. Private services were held April 21, 2017.

She was born on April 6, 1929 in Honolulu. Verdelle was very active with the Kauai Association United Church of Christ. She was a volunteer Secretary and Moderator of the Wai'oli Hui'ia Church. Verdelle was an Accountant for the Waikiki Beach Press, American Sanitary Laundry, and C & H Sugar Company. She was the Office Manager-Account Manager for Coors Beer Western Region, and Murchison Construction. She was also employed by Hanalei Bay Resort. The 6th of 10 siblings, Hazel remained close, listened, and shared an upbeat common sense wisdom. She enjoyed baking and cooking traditional foods for family gatherings, raising orchids, and traveling to Las Vegas with beloved late husband Renny. They were loving and supportive of family; they cherished their friends. Hazel lived with courage, kindness, humor, and grace, touching the hearts of all who came to know her. She is survived by daughters Gayle S. (Lloyd) Ah Quin, Cynthia C. (David) Sakamoto, sister Sandra K. Tengan, 3 grand- children, 3 great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. ALFRED ALPHONSE YEE91, passed away on April 21, 2017. Born in Honolulu, on August 5, 1925. Survived by his wife Elizabeth; children, Lailan (Sean) McGrath, Mark (Teri), Eric (Alisa), Malcolm (Bernadeen), Ian (Luana), Suling (Andrew) Roth, Trevor (Julie), and I'Ling (Ben-David) Sorum; 18 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; sisters, Lucy Fukutome and Ruby Fong; predeceased by brother Daniel; and many nieces and nephews. Public Celebration of Life on May 15, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Oahu Country Club, 150 Country Club Road, Honolulu, HI 96817. No flowers or gifts please. Private burial at Oahu Cemetery. "Big Al" loved his large family and was happiest during their annual family gatherings in Hanalei, Kauai where he could sing, play his guitar and accordion, surf, and share stories of his engineering projects, travels, and the fascinating people he met. He was a 1943 graduate of St. Louis School and served on its Board of Trustees and inducted into the Gallery of Distinguished Achievers. He earned his engineering degrees from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Yale University. In recognition of his work in concrete technology, Rose-Hulman conferred upon him an Honorary Doctor of Engineering degree. He was President of Yee Precast Design Group Ltd. in Honolulu, Hawaii and Director of Precast Design Consultants in Singapore. With a career spanning over 65 years, Dr. Yee was a pioneer in the design of prestressed precast concrete structures. His notable projects include: Arizona Memorial, Ala Moana Hotel, Queen Emma Gardens, Kahala Hotel, IBM Building, Aircraft Maintenance Hangar in Guam, Concrete Island Drilling System, and his tallest precast building, The Sail @ Marina Bay's 70-story tower in Singapore. Dr. Yee held over a dozen patents for construction systems and devices such as the NMB Splice Sleeve mechanical connector and the Concrete Honeycomb Precast Framing System for large ocean platforms. Awards/recognitions bestowed include election to the prestigious National Academy of Engineering. Titan of the Precast/ Prestressed Concrete Institute, PCI Medal of Honor, ACI and ASCE Honorary Memberships, only honorary member of Cement and Concrete Products Industry of Hawaii, Singapore Concrete Institute Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Yee pursued his passions and led a full and abundant life as a husband, family man, friend, engineer, and inventor. He leaves a lasting legacy and will be greatly missed. "Nothing excites me like a difficult design problem that can be met by a simple solution."
