FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Gordon H. Damon
86, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Honolulu. He leaves his best friend Jacki Gillen, sister-in-law Katherine Damon and nephews Allen, Hugh, Thomas and Andrew Damon. Born in Honolulu on June 8, 1930, Gordon was a fourth-generation missionary descendant of Samuel C. Damon and Julia M. Damon who arrived in Hawaii in 1842. Gordon was a graduate of Punahou School and Williams College. He served in the Air Force and was stationed in Morocco. Gordon had a long career spanning several decades as a real estate developer in Honolulu. Some of his projects included The Tropic Isle Hotel in Waikiki, Haiku Plantation and Kaloko Mauka on the Big Island. Gordon's greatest passion was the ocean and he was an avid scuba diver. He dived all over the Hawaiian Islands and in many exotic locations around the world. His favorite dive spots were Fiji and Micronesia. Gordon served on the board of The Waikiki Aquarium and The Oceanic Institute. A grave side service will be held at Oahu Cemetery on May 25th at 10:00am. A reception celebrating Gordon's life will be held after the service at the Oahu Cemetery Lanai. In lieu of flowers Gordon would like donations to be made to Hawaiian Humane Society.
