Sophie "Lucy" Keahilani Makainai, 81, of Kaneohe, died May 2, 2017 in her home. Born in Honolulu. She was a homemaker and owned her own business, Maika'i Florist for 10 years. She was a member of the, Windward Women's Breakfast League at Pali Lanes in Kailua, a member of 'Ahahui Ka'ahumanu Society, Hale O Na Ali'i Chapter 1, Na Wahine Hui 'O Kamehameha, and she was a member of the LDS Kaneohe 2nd Ward. She loved her family, quilting, sewing, hula, singing, and serving others. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jesse K. Makainai, Sr. Survived by sons, Jesse K. Jr.; Sam K., Ernest K., and Clyde K. Makainai; daughters, Beatrice K. Kaonohi, Caroline L. Makainai; hanai daughters, Carol Eleneki, and Joyce Catania; 26 grand- children and 65 great-grand- children. Visitation 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Waikalua Chapel.
