VIOLET INFANTE AYERSViolet Infante Ayers, age 92, succumbed to heart failure on May 12, 2017. She was born in Honolulu and married Jack L. Ayers, Sr., a Marine veteran from Elkins, West Virginia. She retired from Camp Smith (USMC) after over 30 years as a household goods counselor. A lifelong devout Catholic she was most recently very active as a member of the Third Order of Mary, Legion of Mary, and several other prayer and volunteer groups at Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by sons Patrick H. (Aupuni) Ayers of Kailua, Oahu and Jack L. (Elsie) Ayers, Jr. of Las Vegas, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Viewing will be at 10:00 am June 2, 2017 at Borthwick Mauka Chapel, 1330 Maunakea Street with prayer service in the Chapel. Lunch reception to follow. No flowers please.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Thomas C. Beyer. She is survived by sons Charles, Colins, and Stormy, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be held at 11am June 3, 2017 at Hawaiian Memorial Park in Kaneohe followed by a celebration of her life at Kin Wah Chop Suey Restaurant.

GORDON HEUNG ING CHANGJust before dawn on the morning of May 10, 2017, Gordon went to be with his Lord while in the arms of his beloved wife Kay of 46 years. He was born in Waipio Valley on the Big Island in 1933, the youngest of 5 children. The family moved to Hilo in 1941 when Hiilawe Falls flooded the entire Valley. He attended Hilo Union School, then Father Bray from Iolani High School in Honolulu came to Hilo to observe him and offered him a scholarship to play football as well as the advantage of a private school education. He was fortunate enough to live with Father Bray during high school. After graduating from Iolani (class of '52), he went to the Mainland, graduating in physical education from Willamette University in Oregon, later earning his masters from the University of Hawaii. He served in Korea during the Korean War and returned to Hawaii to work. He taught and coached at Hilo High School, Iolani, and retired from Castle High School as a Career Guidance teacher. In 1971 he married Kay, the love of his life, in Vienna, Austria. They enjoyed life together and traveled extensively. There was no bucket list. He will be remembered for his quick, contagious smile and generous heart, his sense of humor, and his love of sports, especially football. He loved the Lord and with Kay served well over 40 years at Hawaii Kai Church. Gordon touched many lives and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his devoted wife Kay; Sister Pearl Chong; Brother Delbert Chang; Nieces Sau Lin Kumasaki (Ken); Shirleen Rayoan (Leroy); Jean Okamura (Cleve); Shiela Ogawa (Keith); Sharon Hirota (Donn); Sandy Rosario (Darren); Nephews Gilbert Chang (Okyo); Jerry Chang; John Chong; Sister-in-Law Nan Blissett (Mark Mabee). Celebration of Life service will be Sunday, June 4, at Hawaii Kai Church, 265 Lunalilo Home Rd.; Visitation at 3:00 pm with Service at 4:00 pm. Burial will be the following day Monday, June 5, at 10:00 am in Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe. Charitable donations may be made to Hawaii Kai Church Early Learning Center.

Robert Bert Faus Jr.88, passed away on May 20 2017. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and was the son of Dr. Robert and Dr. Marie Faus. Robert is survived by his wife Patricia; his son Bob; daughters Nancy and Betsy; his sister Marie, and six grandchildren. Bob graduated from Punahou and the University of Colorado. He worked as a professional mechanical engineer for the US Navy doing jobs at various overseas locations eventually retiring from the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. He served as a Past Master of Lodge Le Progres de l'Oceanie. He was an avid bicyclist, and enjoyed riding and participating in biking events. Services will be held at a later date. The family of Shirley G. Han would like to announce her passing on March 11, 2017 at the age of 81 surrounded by her children. Shirley was born in Waukegan Illinois. The second of two daughters, born to Frances and Garland Garrett. She attended the University of Illinois and majored in nursing, later joining the Army nurse core. Her sense of adventure brought her to Honolulu where she worked at Leahi Hospital. There, she met her future mother in-law, a fellow nurse who would introduce her to her son, Howard - a marriage that would last over 51 years. She lived to see her cherished Chicago Cubs win the World Series - even in declining health, her elation was a joy to see. Shirley is survived by her husband, two daughters, grandson, many nieces, nephews, friends and in-laws. "We will miss you Mom, so very much." He was a retired owner of Aloha Plumbing Company, and a proud veteran who served his country being affiliated with the Military Intelligence Service (MIS). He enjoyed his retirement years teaching and singing karaoke with the Palolo Hongwanji Karaoke Club, and being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. He was well loved and respected by all who knew him. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Doris. On Dec 1, 1942, Connie Lee married George Lau & through the years they built a seafood business named Fishland. Together, they shared a passion for traveling, especially to Vegas. Connie also enjoyed practicing tai chi, playing the organ & the yangqin with the Wo Lok Music Club.
