Thomas, known to most of his school mates as "Chris", passed away in his sleep on May 8, 2017 in his room at The Honolulu Sailor's Home in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was born in Coronado, California on January 4, 1957, the fourth son of Elin and Frederick Farrell. He attended Saint Anthony's School in Kailua, Kailua High School, and was a graduate of Hawaii Loa College. Chris was a seaman in the Merchant Marine, and as a member of the Seafarers' International Union of North America he had sailed all over the world. He loved the ocean in all its aspects. He was a devoted body surfer, and sailor, and was known by many at his favorite spot at Sandy Beach. He is survived by his mother and father, Fred and Elin Farrell, brothers Douglas, Daniel, Paul, and Joseph, and sister Ann. Visitation at 10:00, followed by memorial mass and celebration of life at Saint Anthony's Church in Kailua at 11:00, on June 24, 2017.
