Jan.23, 1945 - June 29, 2017 Norman HJ Chun died in Portland, OR on June 29 after a long illness. He was born in Honolulu and went to Oregon to attend the University of Oregon where he obtained two degrees: Psychology and Applied Design. Norm was drafted in the Vietnam era and served two years in the army, one in Korea. He spent his professional career working for the State of Oregon. He is survived by his former wife and close friend, Gerriann Fox, Portland; his sister-in law, Frances Chun, Honolulu; his niece, Shelene Chun, Honolulu; and his niece, Marlene Nakamura, Kaneohe.

ELIZABETH EVENSEN COCKETTElizabeth "Betty" Evensen Cockett, 90 years old, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2017 in Manoa at Hospice homecare. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii she was a 1944 graduate of Roosevelt High School. As an entrepreneur alongside her husband, she ran South Seas Sales & Printing Co. for over 20 years where she published Bryans Map book, popular Hawaiian coloring books, cookbooks, Hawaiian stories and sold imported shell leis across the islands. Between running her own business she traveled around the world and was able to share all of her wonderful stories and extensive knowledge of Hawaiian history with family and friends. As a true survivor of cancer twice, she was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who lived a full and amazing life. Elizabeth is survived by her grandson, Michael Keoki Spain Jr; granddaughter, Malia Pedro and six great-grand- children. Services and celebration of life will be held at Epiphany Church on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 10:30am visitation; 11:00am service. Flowers welcome.

James T. Estes, Jr. October 31, 1945 - April 25, 2017 James Tyler Estes, Jr., born in Louisville, Kentucky, grew up in North Carolina and graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs in 1968. He served as an Air Force captain, settling permanently in Hawaii after completing duty assignments in Hawaii and Vietnam. He graduated from the William S. Richardson School of Law in 1977, and became a successful Hawaii attorney, first as an associate at Hamilton Gibson Nickelsen Rush & Moore, and later as a director and officer of a firm headed by Edmund Burke and other former Hamilton Gibson lawyers. For thirty years, the firm occupied the 31st floor of the Pacific Guardian Center and, in 2010, moved to its current location on Merchant Street as Burke McPheeters Bordner & Estes. During his 40-year legal career, Jim focused primarily on representing defendants in civil cases arising from personal injury and professional liability claims. He had a keen interest in complex construction cases, representing contractors, architects, engineers, and materials suppliers. He represented a number of asbestos concerns, and litigated one of the first asbestos cases tried to verdict in Hawaii. "Jim was a tough, hard-nosed lawyer, but always conducted himself and treated others with respect and professionalism that served as an example for others," says his partner William A. Bordner. "Jim embodied the best qualities to which all lawyers aspire." A strong believer in community service, Jim served as a Windward United Church of Christ Trustee for many years, and as board chairman from 1996-1997. A gifted athlete, he was a valued player in local softball leagues. He married the former Brett Alexander in 1981, and has one daughter, Stefanie Estes. He is survived by Brett, Stefanie, his brother Richard, his sister Patricia, and many nieces and nephews. July 15, Central Union Church, 1660 S. Beretania St., Honolulu. Visitation at 1 p.m. Memorial service at 2 p.m. with reception to follow service. Casual attire. Donations to the William S. Koch, Russ60, of Kaaawa, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 23, 2017. The son of Donald Klutts and Clara Klutts, Russ was born on January 24, 1957 in St. Petersburg. Florida. He was a graduate of Seminole High School, served in the United States Air Force for 4 years and then attended and graduated from Southern University in Carbondale, Illinois earning a degree in mental health nursing. Shortly thereafter, he worked for the State of Hawaii Hospital in Kaneohe for 25 years. He had a love for his family, his dog Moki, and generally everything Hawaiian especially flowers. He is survived by his mother, Clara; brothers, Ricky, and John; sisters, Robin and Kathi; nephews, Larry, Matthew, Jess, and Cody; a great-niece and great-nephew, Kendall and Hunter, as well as other family members, co-workers and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Klutts. All are welcome to join a Celebration of Russ's Life on Saturday, July 15th from 1-3 pm at the Courtyard Marriott, 55-400 Kam. Hwy. Laie, Hawaii. Russ will always be missed and never forgotten.

James (Jimmy) C. J. Kop, 91, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 17, 2017. He was born in Honolulu on December 7, 1925. James attended McKinley High School and was a proud World War II Army veteran. He retired from Pearl Harbor Shipyard-Public Works Center after 33 years. He is survived by his wife Constance (Connie) of 68 years; daughter Alma Freitas (Richard); grandchildren Ryan Freitas (Kathy), Vanessa Freitas-Gueco, and Darren Freitas (Caroline); and six great grandchildren.
