Margo Morgan slipped away quietly on June 22, 2017. She was never one to make splashy entrances or exits. At best, she was even ambivalent about having an obituary written. Certainly she would never 'toot her own horn'. So this is for those left behind who will appreciate the notice and enjoy the memories. Family and Children were at the top of her priority list. Children included not just her own, but all of their friends. She was always there for track meets, swim meets, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, class picnics, Punahou Carnival, and countless other events. She was the one attending all of the swim meets and oftentimes providing rides home for those parents who knew if they couldn't make it, Margo would be there. How did 13 of you manage to squeeze into the Volkswagen Bug? To her quilting friends, you appreciated both her volume of work and the meticulous hand stitching that went into every quilt - over 30 Hawaiian quilts, and more than 50 quilts in all. From her perspective, she just kept her hands busy. Most of her hiking and adventuring friends have gone on before, but what times they had - hiking all over the islands and abroad. There were years spent volunteering at the Bishop Museum and Iolani Palace because she loved history. There were her friends in the Hawaiian history reading group she helped organize - 21 years, a book a month. There were also many years spent playing ukulele a couple of times a week at Queen Emma's Summer Palace, not because she fancied herself a musician, but because she loved music, and it was fun to play with friends. Years spent with the Garden Club because she loved plants. And there was the Apua Group. At the core were Margo and 9 of her Punahou classmates. They got together again in the aftermath of WWII, married, had kids, and stayed together for the rest of their lives, laughing, teasing, adventuring and living life. She said it best, "I've done everything I wanted to do, and have lived a great life". Thank you, Mom, for everything! A 'talk story' will be held at 52 Robinson Lane, August 19, 2017 from 3:00 to 5:00pm. No flowers, donations to Hospice Hawaii, Historic Hawaii Foundation, or Punahou School.
