RICHARD FREDERICK DVONCHRichard Frederick Dvonch died on June 18, 2017 in Seattle, Washington while undergoing treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 28, 1950. Rich graduated from Northwestern University where he met his wife Dawn. He attained his JD from John Marshall Law School in Chicago. In 1976, he and Dawn moved to Hawaii where he established a private practice. In addition to his private practice, he became a Legislative Attorney in 1993. Rich became the House Chief Attorney in 2000. Despite living in Hawaii for 41 years, he never developed a taste for local food. But, otherwise, Rich was a man of wide and varied interests and extensive knowledge of history and politics. He loved music, news blogs, movies and, most of all, his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Dawn, his faithful sons, Nicholas and Matthew, their lovely wives, Erin and Doris, and the apples of his eye, his wonderful grandchildren, Michaela, Connor, Madison and Alex. Rich is also survived by his loving siblings, Christine Dvonch (Raymond Agius), Robert Dvonch (Jane), Russell Dvonch (Yun Zhi), Roger Dvonch and nieces and nephews. We love him and miss him more than we can say... Memorial service on July 29, 2017. Nuuanu Memorial Park. Visitation 10:30 am. Service to follow. Aloha attire.

Mr. Larry Takanori Inouye, 89, of Kamuela, Hawaii died on June 30, 2017 at his residence. Born in Kamuela, Hawaii on May 2, 1928, he was a retired U.S. Army MSGT and served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a retired maintenance engineer at Tripler Army Medical Center and worked in maintenance at the former Royal Waikoloan Hotel. He is survived by his wife, Amy of Kamuela; son, Larry Inouye, Jr., of Wahiawa, Oahu; daughters, Valerie (Roger Salazar) Inouye and Michele (Dennis) Tanaka, all of Kamuela; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. Age 82, formerly from Salt Lake, Likini St., died in Jacksonville, FL on June 10, 2017, after suffering illness and cancer. Born Nov. 13, 1934 in Bernice, LA. John served as an Electrician's Mate in the US Navy 1954-1958, Pearl Harbor. In March 1956, he married the former Terry Hanako Tiara of Hilo. Married 50 years before Terry's passing in 2006. Married Ruth Bell in March 2007. John was employed as an electrician and then estimator with Jack Endo Electric in Honolulu. John led his Spearsville HS team to their first state championship in 1952. After coaching his sons, Gene and David, he then umpired Little League, HS, and at the University of Hawaii. John is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 10 years; sons, Gene Winford Smith and his wife, Beth of Lake Oswego OR, David Walter Smith and his wife, Teresa, of Arnauldville LA; brother Lyle M. Smith (wife Charlene). His brother, Carl M. Smith (wife Susan) died unexpectedly on June 25, 2017. Interment: 8:30 a.m. on Friday, July 28 at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Services: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Honolulu Bible Church, 1844 Palolo Ave.
