Graduated from Farrington High School, St. Joseph College in Yokohama, Japan and De Forrest Technical Institute in Chicago, Illinois, he was co-owner of Nippon Theater and general manager of Beaver Grill Restaurant. He also worked at Theo Davies, Amfac, the US General Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan and at various TV/movie production companies such as CBS Inc., Universal Studios, Paramount, Walt Disney, Aaron Spelling and Columbia Pictures. He is survived by his wife, Asako; and by his daughter, Grace Furuya. Visitation is at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. The service is at 6:00 p.m. Casual attire.
