Evalyn Bartell, EVALYN BARTELL, GAY Passed peacefully at home with her family on August 16th. Born to Gen. Charles P. Bixel (US Army) and Evalyn Bixel at Fort Bliss Texas on March 16, 1937. She touched all that she met and her love for Hawaii ran deep. Whether it was beach combing for glass balls at Bellows, picking puka shells in Maile, diving for lobster at Barbers Point, or shell collecting at Tracks beach, she was always happiest by the sea. Gay was president of BB Embroidery since the passing of her husband and the company's founder, Harold "Bart" Bartell in 1996. When her knees couldn't take tennis anymore she switched to golf and it became her passion. Mom, may all your drives be long and straight. Survived by sons Michael (Kenya), Mark (Beth), Tod (Michelle), sister Dabney Bixel, nephews Robert and Jonathan Lopez, grandchildren Sara Bornemann, Nathan, Kade, Grace and Nicholas Bartell, great- granddaughter Lila Bornemann, and hanai daughter Tom Renaldi. Services at Punchbowl Sept. 15th 10:30am. In lieu of flowers please consider a gift to the Hawaii Kidney Foundation or Hospice Hawaii. Arrangements Provided By: NUUANU MEMORIAL PARK & MORTUARY LLC
