Col. Reginald K. Fansler (ret.)

Col. Reginald K. Fansler (ret.)Reginald King Fansler, age 100, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2017, in Gainesville, Florida. He was born on October 18, 1916 in St. Cloud, Missouri. Reg grew up on his family's farm. He decided early that farming was not his calling. He wanted to see the world, answering the Army's call in 1936, and took basic training in the Philippines. Reg was commissioned as an officer in 1943. A founding member of the Military Police Corps, he served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He met Avis, his wife of 59 years, in Germany after WWII where she was part of Special Services. Retirement as a Colonel came in 1971 after 34 years of service. He received the Bronze Star, Legion of Merit and many commendations. Following his Army career, Reg was the Chief of Law Enforcement for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources until 1978. Reg and Avis moved to Honolulu, and enjoyed many years with his Fansler Ohana until they moved to Gainesville in 2007. Reg's beloved wife Avis passed away in 2009. He continued to enjoy life. He is survived by his children Marilyn (and Andy), Susan (and Jim), and Mark (and Cheryl); grandchildren Katherine (and Kevin), Blair, Jay, Matthew, and Sarah; great grandchildren Sophia, Nathan and Mackenzie. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. This loving, generous, gentle man will be missed by many people. Richard Carlton Jackson86, of Aiea, peacefully passed away after struggling with cancer and Alzheimer's disease on Thursday, August 31, 2017 while under the most compassionate care of the VA hospice staff. He was born in Kekaha, Kauai Hi to Issac and Rose Nahale'a Jackson. He graduated from the Kamehameha Schools, class of 1949, served in the U.S. Army and retired as a land surveyor in the Engineering Dept of HECO after serving over 40 years. He was active in the company's choral glee club and also served as President for a few terms with the Prince Kuhio Hawaiian Civic club and participated with the annual Kamehameha Day float decoration. Survived by wife Marian (Mae), twin sons Newman (Jisu) and Neal of Nevada, step-son Charles Padua (Audrey) of Nevada, grandchildren Kiley, Rhyan, Blake and Nakoa, step- grandchild, Anela Padua of New Jersey, step-great-grandchildren Tyzae and Kailea, sister Audrey Helenihi of California and many nieces and nephews. Celebration of life Monday, September 18, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Aiea. Visitation 9:30 am, Mass at 11:00 am.
