Walter Joseph Fairfax, IIIWalter Joseph Fairfax, III, beloved father and grandfather, treasured brother and uncle, passed from this life peacefully in Newport Beach, California on October 5, 2017, after an extended battle with cancer. He was 75 years old. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 22, 1942 to Walter and Elizabeth Fairfax. Raised in West Covina, California, Walt graduated from West Covina High School and attended Mt. San Antonio College, earning an associate's degree in business. He spent his early working years in finance, real estate and restaurant ownership and the last twenty years of his career as a small business owner in the aerospace industry, retiring in 2003. Walt enjoyed traveling and he loved sports, especially basketball. Throughout his life, Walt was an avid golfer, boater and fisherman. He spent a good portion of his retirement years living in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he enjoyed golfing with his friends and taking his boat out to sea. He was an active booster club member for the University of Hawaii Men's Basketball Program. He was a generous and loving father and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities, events, and performances. He is survived by his daughter Deborah Glenn (John) of Rancho Cucamonga, his son Kevin Fairfax (Carrie) of Newport Beach and seven grandchildren: Andrea Glenn, Alexandra Kolowena (Mitchell), Alana Glenn, Kathryn Glenn, Christopher Glenn, Sophia Fairfax and Julianna Fairfax. He also leaves brothers David Fairfax, Ronald Fairfax (Pamela), Guerin Fairfax and a sister, Bernadette Fairfax as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on November 12th, at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar with a celebration of life harbor cruise following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walt's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the University of Hawaii Men's Basketball Program.

72, passed away on October 17, 2017. Born in Puunene, Maui, he retired in 2013 after working 46 years at the Sears Service Center and a TV technician. One day at work, a good friend called out 'Moose' and Edwin turned around. That 'name' was his from that day on. He enjoyed golfing and playing softball with co-workers and friends. He loved to read about and watch all sports and was a faithful Giants fan. He also enjoyed traveling with his family every year and saw a Giants game in San Francisco in 2009. After retiring, he liked to pass his time solving the daily Sudoku puzzles and playing Candy Crush-both of which he became good at. Edwin was a man of few words, who loved his family and was very proud of his son. He is survived by wife, Susan and son, Keith. Brothers - Clifford (Nancy) and Stanley (Rita). Sisters - Jane (James Tanaka), Joan (Bert Murai), Norene Wang and Arlene (Nathan Akiyoshi). Sister-in-law - Anne (Glenn Teruya). 12 nieces and nephews and 15 grandnieces and grandnephews. Karel A. Ling KAREL A. LING On the morning of Friday November 3rd, 2017, Karel A. Ling was called home to our Heavenly Father. Karel was born in Bend, Oregon on March 23rd, 1940. She met her husband Kenneth K. M. Ling (deceased), while attending Linfield College where she graduated with a BA Degree in Social Work. Both Karel and Kenneth used their Social Work degrees to help many challenged youths during their tenure at Palama Settlement. Karel went on to work at the Hawai'i Children's Justice Center, and Koolau Boy's Home (Hawaii Youth Correctional Center). Karel retired in 2002, from Marine Corps Base Hawaii - Communications Department. Karel loved her fellowship with Kailua Christian Church, her group bible studies with classes from Bible Institute of Hawaii, and being a member of the Windward YMCA Y's Men's Club, donating her time in helping others. Karel is survived by her three sons - Scot (Pauahi), Mark (Rennie), Lance (Shana), two daughters - Heidi Cummings (Walter Jr.) and Heather Bernal (Eric Sr.). She is also survived by her siblings - Karon Chapman, Robert Reed, Val Reed, and Rick Reed. Karel has 16 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at Borthwick Mortuary, on Maunakea Street, on Friday December 1st, 2017. Visitation and viewing at 9:30am, Service at 10:30am with lunch to follow. Burial will be on the same day at Hawaiian Memorial Park at 2pm. Aloha Attire requested.
