78, of Aiea, peacefully passed in his sleep on Oct. 10, 2017. Born and raised in Haiku, Maui, Ed was also affectionately known as "Eriko," an Army veteran and retiree from Haw'n Bitumuls & Paving Co. after 40 years as a Loader Operator. He always embraced the opportunity to help others and loved and cared for his family and friends deeply. Ed always had a bright, contagious smile and will be missed immensely by all who loved him, especially his wife, Dora H. Sato; sons, Darrin (Pamie) Sato and Derek (Valerie) Sato; two granddaughters, Emree Sato and Lyla Sato; sisters, Janet Wakayama, Alma Murakami, Florence DeRego and Ethel Kawamura. Ed's Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Mililani Mortuary, Mauka Chapel.
