Brendan Kennedy Kehoe Kamani Buchwach BRENDAN KENNEDY KEHOE KAMANI BUCHWACH 12/21/64 - 11/29/17 of Hawaiian/Portuguese heritage, Brendan was adopted into the Buck and Peggy Buchwach Ohana through the intercession of Frank Sinatra, and brought home Christmas morning to the house in Niu Valley that was purchased in anticipation of his birth. It is the same house he and his wife, L Kae Graniel, had recently moved into before his passing. Given the Hawaiian name Ke'ao opua by Mary Kawena Pukui. A handsome, highly intelligent, many-gifted person with a great sense of humor and desire to be in service of others - he attended Kamehameha, and graduated from Kalani. Brendan also attended Kapiolani Community College. He was active, playing soccer with the Hawaii Kai Sharks, Kamehameha, and Kalani. He enjoyed boogie boarding at Sandy's, live music, and photography. He was an avid reader and scrabble player. Wherever he worked he always quickly rose in position and recognition - named employee of the year for 13 stores in Hawaii/California by Pier 1 Imports, and most recently promoted to manager of The Honolulu Fitness Center at Fort Street Mall after just 3 weeks of employment. On December 12, 1992 (Sinatra's birthday) Brendan's first marriage was to April Hom, and they had son, Bradd Aaron Ikaika Hom Buchwach in July of 95'. Forever enamored of East Oahu and his numerous "Niu Valley Boys", as a young child he admired firemen and they, in turn, came to his rescue (at Station 1) when he suffered an aorta tear which led to his passing. On November 11th of this year, after a ten-year courtship, he married L. Kae Graniel. She was the love of his life and was a calming influence on him. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Bernice Kehoe (who called him "Honey Boy" and was his chief caregiver while his parents worked) also pre-deceasing him was his father, Buck Aaron Buchwach, who dubbed him "Handsome Harry". Brendan is survived by his wife, son, mother, Peggy Kehoe Buchwach, brothers Brett (Debbie), Brian, Bruce and Barron "Buzz", sisters Barbara "Sande" Amesley, Ph.d., Bonnie Swanson MD (David, M.D.), hanai sisters Viviane Mariteragi, Mitara Bougerie and numerous nieces and nephews. Ashes will be privately scattered and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 16th at 3:00pm at Calvary Lutheran Church, Aina Haina. Calvary Lutheran Church, Aina Haina, was a good influence in Brendan's life and he, in turn, volunteered there with the work of the Angel Network.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hawaii Community Foundation 827 Fort Street Mall, Honolulu 96813 where an endowment has been set up in the name of Brendan Buchwach. Funds will be channeled to Waikiki Health Center.
