Deborah Coward Damon1937 - 2017 Deborah Coward Damon passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 4, 2017 at the age of 80. She was surrounded by family. Born in New York City on November 11, 1937, daughter of Raymond and Winifred Coward and sister of Hugh Coward, Debby grew up in Bedford, New York and graduated from Miss Halls School in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and Briarcliff College in Briarcliff Manor, New York. She met Frank Damon on a family trip to Hawaii in 1958 and they were married the following year at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Bedford, New York. Debby was active in the community for her whole life and was a member of the Junior League and the Garden Club of Honolulu. She also served on the Board of the KCAA Preschools of Hawaii and on the National Board of the Boys & Girls Club of America. More recently she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was an avid bridge player and flower arranger. She had a refined aesthetic which she applied to home dcor, fashion, and landscaping. At different points in her life, Debby lived in Los Angeles, Connecticut, New York, Bermuda and London, but she was drawn back to Hawaii, which she always considered her home. She is survived by a large family including her four sons, Allen, Hugh, Thomas and Andrew, her two daughters-in-law, Delphine and Vanessa, as well as eight grandchildren, Sloan, Jack, Cole, Mahina, McKenna, Kobey, Luke and Drew. Services will be held at the Atherton Chapel at Central Union Church on January 4th, 2018 at 1:00pm. There will be a reception following the service in the Atherton Courtyard. In lieu of flowers Debby would like donations to be made to The Garden Club of Honolulu.

Kiichi Takahama, son of Junki & Matsu Takahama was born in Lahaina, Maui on April 23, 1918 and passed away on November 29, 2017 in Honolulu. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Natalie Natsuyo Sakamoto of Waikapu, Maui; sister Matsuyo Matsuura; brothers, Tamotsu & Atsushi (Chan) Takahama. Survived by brother Charlie Takahama; sisters, Nancy Kikuchi, Mitsue Fukuda and Mae Kaleikau; daughter Joan (Michael) Dang; grandchildren Lindsey (Amy), Marshall (Chayne) & Dr. Travis (Keiko) Dang; 3 great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews and Smokey his cat. He was a graduate of McKinley High School. He was a proud member of the Maui Police Department, where he started as a patrolman and retired with the rank of Inspector. He served on the island of Lanai, district of Lahaina & district of Wailuku, under Chief Abraham Iona. During his young years, he was active with the Lanai Gun & Rifle Club, Lahaina Methodist Church, bowling leagues & Okinawan Dance Club on Maui. He was also an enthusiastic & committed student of the Kaunoa Senior Centers' Monday ukulele class under the late Ruth Latham & present Penny Davis. Even though the drive from Kula, where he resided with Natalie was Jong, he hardly missed a class. The family wishes to thank his Kula neighbors Donna & Eric, Diane & Allen and the Awais for looking in on Kiichi & Natalie. Also Dr. Joey Kohatsu & staff, caregivers Cookie, Mary Lou, Sherry, Jeanette, Jenet & others who provided loving & compassionate care for Gramps. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2017. Celebration of Life at 11:30 a.m. at Nakamura Mortuary. Private Inurnment. The family requests no koden. ELIZABETH MAE CHING TORRESLizzy joined the Lord on November 19, 2017, in Saint Francis Hospice surrounded by her family. She was born to Joseph and Olinda Ching on February 19, 1943, in Saint Louis Heights. She graduated from Kaimuki High School in 1961. Lizzy will always be our loving wife, mother, tutu, sister, and friend. Her nurturing spirit will continue to inspire us, as she gave love and shelter with open arms. Lizzy is survived by her husband, George, of 51 years; sons Keoki and Kalani; daughter, Noelani; grandchildren, Kekoa, Kainoa, Kaimana, Ku'ualoha, Lilianna, and Anuhea; Hanai children, Koa Pedro and JoAnne Lindbald; sisters, Jolinda Higuchi and Reney Ching; many nieces and nephews, whom she truly loved; and, many friends and countless children she babysat and raised as her own. Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 22, at Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel. Visitation from 5 to 6 p.m. Service to follow. Aloha/casual attire.
