ALICE KIM ARMOURJan 26, 1924 - Feb 23, 2017 Alice Kim Armour died peacefully Feb 23, 2017 in Los Alamos, NM, at the age of 93. Alice was born Jan 26, 1924 in Kamuela, HI, on the Parker Ranch. She was one of eight children born to Kim Young Song and Park Pong Nam. She grew up in Honolulu later working for US Army Ordnance during WWII. She met her future husband Wendell G. Armour at a USO dance. Alice and Wendell were married May 1, 1943. MSgt Armour, a decorated veteran (SS, BS, PH) of the US Army Infantry who served in WWII and the Korean War, died Jun 26, 2014 in Los Alamos, NM, at the age of 92. As a military family they moved often and were stationed in Hawaii, New Jersey, Texas, and Taiwan. Wendell retired from the Army after 22 years. He had a second career working for the federal government. Alice and Wendell then followed their children. They lived in Libertyville, ILL, Dallas and San Antonio, TX, and Albuquerque, NM, before settling in Los Alamos, NM, in 2007. Alice is survived by two children: Wayne Armour of Portland, OR, and Irene Powell of Los Alamos, NM. A third child Kendell D. Armour died in 1975. Grandchildren are Lee Powell of Washington, DC, Lauren Heerschap of Lander, WY, and Allison Armour of Portland, OR. Alice enjoyed being with people and talking about her family. Her smile and sense of humor made everyone laugh. Alice loved to read books, play bingo, and watch her favorite TV programs. She was active at her local Senior Center where she had many friends. Alice was much loved and will be missed by all. Alice and Wendell will be together forever with final interment (Military Honors) of their ashes at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl), HI. ALOHA OE!

Jane Chitose HiranoAge 98, of Honolulu passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, on December 16, 2017, after a recent illness. We will be eternally grateful for the loving blessings of her life on all who met her and for the beautiful lessons of life that she shared with everyone. She was blessed with the Japanese name "Chitose" which means "long life" and "a thousand years," a name she most definitely embodied. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Phillip T. Hirano, in May, 2009. Jane retired as a Purchasing Specialist Supervisor from the Department of Accounting and General Services for the State of Hawaii after many years of service. Jane had many diverse interests in her life, but first and foremost, she was a devoted and deeply loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who valued her family immensely. Though she loved baking, cooking, sewing, needlework, hula dancing, ukulele playing, lei making and traveling to many places in the world, she'll always be remembered for "Aunty Jane's Rolls." Jane was the oldest of six children and was born in Makaweli, Kaua'i to Moto Nagoshi and Tomoso Goto. Brothers: George, Renji and Yoshio Goto. Sisters: Sumile Francisco and the late Tsuyako Sato. Jane is survived by her three children: Bradley Hirano (Lisa) of Honolulu; Pamela Hirano Lee (Duane) of Mission Hills, KS and Sandi McDaniel (Samuel) of Honolulu. Grandchildren: Ashley Hirano (Joe Villasenor) of Solana Beach, CA; Dayna Lee of Honolulu; Kelsey Johnson (Trey) of Belton, TX and Jensen McDaniel of Honolulu. Great granddaughter: Zara Villasenor and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary, East Chapel. Private family inurnment at Punchbowl, The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Casual attire. No flowers or koden. If you so wish, donations may be made in her memory to a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the entire staff and residents of The Plaza at Waikiki for making the last year of her life one filled with new friends, great meals and countless activities. Their patience, kindness and nurturing will always be remembered. We also wish to thank the staff at St. Francis Hospice Home for caring for her with tremendous dignity and respect. GWENDOLYN KEKAUWOHI MCGWIN (SMITH)84 yrs. of Kalamaula, Molokai. Gwendolyn passed away November 11th, 2017 in Kaunakakai, Molokai. She was born on February 7th, 1933 at Queens Hospital in Honolulu, Oahu; she was the last surviving child of the late William Sylvester and Harriet (Hattie) Leialoha Kaleimamahu Smith of Kalamaula. Affectionately known by family and friends as "Sister", she retired from the State of Hawaii Department of Health, Waimanu Training School and Hospital as a food service worker on February 15th, 1988. She was a treasured mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunty, cousin, friend and confidant. She is survived by her sons Francis (Kristen) Chock of Minnesota, Nathan (Mina) Chock of South Carolina, Rudy McGwin of Virginia, Steve (Gay) McGwin of Pennsylvania, and her daughter Laurie (Kaleo) Bishaw of Hoolehua, Molokai. She is also survived by step- children Steve McGwin of Michigan, Michael (Susan) McGwin of Texas and Michelle (Lew) McGwin Seebinger of New Mexico. She was also predeceased by her two sons, Gary and Randy Chock and their father, Francis Chock; and stepdaughter Gladys "Happy" Hollman and her father, Donald Hugh McGwin. Gwendolyn's legacy lives on with 22 beautiful grandchildren, 19 great-grand- children and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 9:30am on Saturday, January 13th, 2018, at Ka Hale Laa O Ierusalema Hou Church, Kalamaula, Molokai, followed by ashes to sea service off Kapuaiwa Grove, Kalamaula. No flowers, aloha attire.

Karen Etsuko MuramotoAs much as we wanted to keep her here... He wanted her more...On November 25, 2017, Karen, prematurely passed away at the young age of 71. She was born on June 16, 1946 in Honoka'a and grew up in Kaneohe. Started her own family in the South Bay Area of California, where she lived for over 20 years. Returned home in 1989 to join her father in the insurance industry. Karen dedicated the last 28 years of her life working alongside her father through Ken Nakamura & Associates. Her genuine love for people, built life-long relationships with many. This spirit will carry on through her only daughter Karie (Ronnie) Paguio and the joy of her life, her only granddaughter, Remie, whom she was most proud of. She is also survived by mother, Tomie Nakamura; sister, Lynn Franklin and brother, Lloyd (Patti) Nakamura. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Mililani Mortuary (Mauka Chapel). Visitation 5:30pm, services 6:30pm. Karen's kind heart and youthful spirit will truly be missed by all of those she touched.
