May Sakai Laughlin, age 90, passed away on November 12, 2017 in Honolulu. May was born on May 17,1927, to Hanji and Risao Sakai in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from Farrington High School, St. Francis Nursing School, Marquette University, and the University of Colorado. She taught Nursing at the University of Illinois, St. Vincent Hospital in Los Angeles, and the University of Hawaii. May married Dennis Laughlin, USN, in 1965. They have one surviving son, Kevin Kimo Laughlin (married to Leanne Laughlin) and one grandson, Tyler Laughlin. May's siblings include Dr. Richard Sakai, Kenneth Sakai, Alice Miyake, and Grace Komoda, all of Honolulu. ~ Private Services held ~808-925-0074
