56, of Honolulu HI, died peacefully in her home on November 29th, 2017. She was born September 3rd, 1962, in Washington, D.C. Ellen graduated from Kalaheo High School, Kailua, in 1980, and from Carlton College, Minnesota, in 1984. She worked as a landscaper, caregiver, spiritual advisor, book editor, and, most recently, for Hawaii Hochi Japanese language newspaper in Kalihi. Ellen was survived by mother Leilani of Honolulu and brothers Peter (Rowena) of California and Richard (Lisa) of Kaneohe. She was preceded in death by father Robert Lawrence Pyle of Honolulu and brother Robert Lewis Pyle of Colorado. Private services will be held.
