FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

JAMES “BLACK” AKIONA JR.
JAMES 82, of Kaneohe, slipped away peacefully on January 5, 2018 with family at his side. He was a graduate of Kaimuki High School, c/o 1953 and retired as a Battalion Chief with the Honolulu Fire Dept. after 29 years of service. Jim was also a Facilitator for PSI men's classes. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Irene; sons John (Nora) and Mark (Johnen); daughter Bernadine Kaluhiwa (Roland). Jim also has 9 grandchildren: Samantha, Kekoa, James Taylor, Keawe, Anela, Malie, Pomai, Paulina and Kristina; 13 great-grand- children and 1 great-great-grand- child. "Sonny Boy" is also survived by brother Sanford (Donna Jean) and sister Margaret Kini and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Ballard Family Moanalua Mortuary. Visitation at 8:30 am. Service 10:00 am. Aloha Attire.
