"Petty Officer First Class Vincent Talalemotu Mauga passed peacefully in the care of his wife, Mychele Mauga, on December 28, 2017, at the age of 39. Vincent was born on June 22, 1978, in Pago Pago, American Samoa to Talalemotu and Ivona Mauga. He graduated from Arizona State University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He married his forever love, Mychele Fong, on June 21, 2008 in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. The following year, he completed the U.S. Navy's basic training camp in Great Lakes, Illinois. He was first stationed in Kaneohe Marine Corps Base, as an aviation mechanic, in command VP-9. Vince completed five deployments and quickly rose in the ranks to First Class Petty Officer. He most recently served as a Non-Commissioned Officer stationed at Point Mugu, California. Vince embraced his life in Port Hueneme, where he lived out his greatest adventures with his 'adventure-twin,' Mychele. "Let's explore our time and live our story - just live." From a marriage that produced 10 children, the fifth of whom was Vincent, he learned the importance of faith and family. He carried his faith with him, providing guidance to all that came under his tutelage. Vincent lived as model husband and father, and loving protector to all, passing on his learned wisdom to family and friends. This gentle giant is remembered for combining his leadership with humor, and empowering others by his example of superhero strength in character. This quiet teacher and his faithful tenderness provided an irreplaceable balance to us all. Vincent is survived by his wife, Mychele; his daughters, Tori and Rychele; parents Talalemotu and Ivona Mauga; brothers, David, Junior, Paul, and Tim; sisters, Sala, Mary, Audrey, Gloria, and Marivonne. Beloved by all who came to know him, Vincent's heart was infinite extending his "family" to include all who call him son, brother, uncle, papa, braddah, teacher, father-figure, and with his last breath - dad, and husband. Through his eternal devotion to family we understand how sacrifice is truly a synonym for love. Services will be held on February 6th, 2018 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary Chapel (45-425 Kamehameha Hwy Kaneohe, HI 96744); visitation at 0830, Celebration of Life at 0930, with Committal service to follow promptly 1100 at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery (45-349 Kamehameha Hwy, Kaneohe, HI 96744). All are welcome to attend. Remembrances may be made in the form desired by friends.
