ANDREW JACOB KAHOLOMOANA AFONGMarch 26, 1987 to January 8, 2018 Passed away suddenly and peacefully with his family by his side after a brief illness. He was born four and half months premature and weighed one pound at birth in Honolulu. Despite all the challenges he faced, Andrew lived to be almost 31 years old. His strength, perseverance and character were reflected in his sparkling brown eyes and a smile that made one forget their troubles and gave one hope. He attended Manana Elementary, Waipahu Intermediate, Waipahu High School and Family Services of Oahu. He is survived by his loving parents Stanford and Roberta Afong. His adoring sister Carolyn (Michael-Dean) Maielua and devoted brother Jason (Chontille) Afong. His nieces and nephews, Tehani, Mika, and Kanilea Maielua, and Jycobi and Jediyan Afong; grandmothers Margaret Abellanida and Kay Phillips as well as numerous Uncles, Aunties, and cousins. Visitation at 8:30 am; Service at 10:30 am; Burial at 12:30 pm at the Mauka Chapel at Mililani Memorial Park on Friday, March 2, 2018.

Gwendolyn Kamoani Marino AiwohiApril 12, 1935 - January 14, 2018 Those we love are never more than a thought away, tor as long as there 's a memory they live in our hearts forever. Gwen, 82, peacefully surrendered to God's care on Sunday, January 14th, with three generations of family members close by her side. A beautiful Mom, Grandma, Nana, Cousin, Classmate and Friend, Gwen was best known for her sincere smile, warm personality, passion for sports and tireless work ethic. Gwen, a graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy's Class of '53, was employed by Consolidated Amusement Co. for 40 years before retiring from her alma mater in September 2017 where she served as a clerk in the Admissions and Alumni Relations Offices for over 20 years. After retiring, Gwen continued as a volunteer at Sacred Hearts until a week before her death. Besides being a Mom, Grandma and Nana, nothing meant more to her than being part of the Lancers 'Ohana. Gwen was preceded in death by husband, Waldemar Kuuipo Aiwohi, and mother and father, Violet Hoon Lum Marino and Herman Kala Marino. She is survived by son, Herman Kala Aiwohi (Darcell); daughter, Violet Sweetie Nelson (Rob); five grandchildren, Lindsey Ala (Houston), Brittney Yim (Spencer), Colbey Lobendahn (Justin), Jordan Nelson and Braeden Nelson; and seven great grandchildren, Isaiah & Asher Ala, Charlie & Nona Vi Yim, Nation & Pride Lobendahn and Mason Rutkowski-Nelson. The Aiwohi Family would like to thank Gwen's "extended 'ohana" for their kind words and gracious expressions of love, she treasured your friendship dearly; and the doctors and nurses at The Queen 's Medical Center and Hospice Hawaii who cared for her unconditionally. Please join us as we remember and celebrate Gwen, Sunday, February 25th at St. Margaret Mary Chapel on the campus of Sacred Hearts Academy, 3253 Waialae Avenue. Reynold “Rey” Akau

Reynold Reynold "Rey" Akau passed away on December 28, 2017, at the age of 87. Rey was born on October 16, 1930, to parents Frank Mercer Akau Sr. and Azalea Wedemeyer Akau. He is preceded in death by siblings, Elmer, Cordelia, Marion (Kahawai), Frank Jr., Betty (Wilson), Eleanor (Chun) and Leonard. Rey spent his entire life living in Kalihi. He attended Kalihi Uka Elementary, Kalakaua Intermediate and Farrington High Schools. During his teen years, Rey was active as an amateur boxer until he went to work at the Libby, McNeil and Libby Cannery. While employed at the Cannery, Rey met the love of his life, Elaine Murakami. Rey and Elaine married on Christmas Day of 1948 and remained together for 69 happy years. In December of 1949, Rey was hired as a Ramp Serviceman in the Maintenance Division, for Trans-Pacific Airlines, later known as Aloha Airlines. As a Ramp Serviceman, his main duty was to fuel aircraft for timely departure. In 1989, after 40 years, Rey retired from Aloha Airlines and at that time was the longest tenured airline employee. Besides boxing, Rey also became passionate about his bowling, where he proved to be a serious competitor. During his off time, Rey spent many personal hours perfecting his game which often contributed to the financial support of his family and eventually resulted in multiple 300 games. In 1984, Rey and Elaine opened the V's Bowling Pro Shop on North King Street; later in the Stadium Bowl-O-Drome and finally in the Fort Shafter Bowling Center. In 1986, Rey launched the V's Bowling Pro Shop Tournament in Las Vegas. This tournament was an annual event which ran for over 30 years. In 2010, Rey was inducted into the Oahu Bowling Associations Hall of Fame. Rey is survived by wife Elaine and their children: Florence Ferreira, Reyjean Akau, Reynold Dwight Akau (Debra), Reynette Oakes (John), Bryan Akau, Scott Akau (Laurie); Rey is also survived by brother Clarence (Abigail); 16 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grand- children, 1 Great, Great Grandchild. Funeral Service will be held at: The Hawaiian Memorial Cemetary, Kaneohe, on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Visitation 10:45 a.m.-11:30 a.m.; Prayer Service 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.; Reception 12:30 p.m. -1:30 p.m.; Burial 2:00 p.m. Arrangements Provided By: Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary

Ku`uleimokihana Cockett AluliKu`uleimokihana Cockett Aluli, age 97, of Kailua, passed away on January 2, 2018 at her home, Ho`onanea. She was born in Makawao, Maui on September 10, 1920, and retired from the Kupuna Program for the State Department of Education. She was a homemaker and beloved mother and nana. She was a beautiful hula dancer, singer and musician and loved to bowl and golf. Together with her sisters-in-law raised the 24 Aluli-Hollinger-Meyer cousins in Kaimalino along the Kawainui canal. She was a member of the Daughters of Hawai`i, the Saint Anthony Parish Community Kailua, and sang with the Kaimalino Serenaders. She is survived by her children, Ronald Chong Kee, Kalai Teves, Noa Emmett Aluli, Pia Aluli, Hayden Aluli, Noa Kekahu Aluli, and Webster Kalani Aluli; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grand- children; 11 great-great-grand- children; three hanai grandchildren and four hanai great-grandchildren; and sister Miriam Kalehua Deering. She is preceded by her parents Jonah Patrick (Pia) and Mary Kaweiokalani Kekahu Cockett; her brothers Mormon, George, Patrick, Frank, Herbert, James and Abraham Cockett; her sisters Miriam, Amy Moikeha, Phoebe Ledward, Zelie Radwin and Mary Joyce Lawrence; and her husbands Noa Tong Aluli and Nicholas Walter Teves. Her ho`olewa, Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Diamond Head Mortuary. Visitation at 8:30, Reflections at 10:00. Lei are welcome.
