Betsy Chiyoko Higa

Betsy Chiyoko HigaBetsy Chiyoko Higa, 94, peacefully passed away on January 5, 2018. Betsy was born in Honolulu, Hawai'i on November 18, 1923 to Issei immigrants from Okinawa. She was preceded in death by her husband Seiko and son Gary. She is survived by children Carol (Wilfred) Toyama, Rev. Clarence (Corinne) and Randall (Alison) Higa; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Janet Kaneshiro and numerous nieces and nephews. Betsy was the proprietress and the "B" in B & S Store Shave Ice that was in operation for 55 years from 1951-2006. Numerous articles and interviews were done on this local taste treat that made B & S Store very famous. Betsy was an active member of Liliha Shingonji Mission and Seichiji Temple. She enjoyed Goeika singing, traveling, and was exceptionally proud of her grand and great- grandchildren. She will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held at Hosoi Mortuary on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.; visitation from 4:00 p.m. Aloha attire, no flowers. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
