Richard E. HansenNov. 30, 1931 to Jan. 2, 2018 Richard "Dick" Hansen, 86, was born in Tilden, Nebraska, to Otto and Pearl (Radke) Hansen. The student athlete played baseball for and graduated from UCLA in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He then served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force's Air Intelligence Service Squadron. Dick then began a long career of helping people via the insurance industry and joined Aetna Life & Casualty in Tacoma, Wash., which led him to move to Oahu to manage the company's Honolulu office. He continued his career with New England Life, affiliated with First Insurance Co., as well as Hawaiian Life Insurance Company, Triad Insurance Agency and King & Neel, Inc. Dick was a highly skilled athlete and dedicated sports fan. He excelled in baseball and basketball while at UCLA and also enjoyed beach volleyball on the sun-soaked California sand. Later in life, he remained active by playing tennis, golf and softball. He is survived by wife Kanoe, son Michael (Jacquelyn) Hansen, daughters Kathleen Galdeira, Patricia (Oscar) De Masi and Jacinda Elias, and six grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held via an informal baseball game on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. at Kahala District Park's baseball field. Both players and spectators are welcome.

Born in Hilo, Hawaii, he graduated from The Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu, Hawaii, (IMUA Class of 1966), and the University of Hawaii. He attended various Photography classes and workshops in California. He was a US Navy Veteran. He retired from the Hawaii Police Department as a Captain. He worked at The Fairmont Orchid Resort, Kohanaiki Resort, Hilton Waikoloa Village, SIS Corporation, The Hawaii Tribune-Herald as a Photographer, and Standard Oil Corporation. Cremation was done by Marks Funeral and Cremation Service of Windsor, Colorado. Blessing of the ashes will be on Friday, March 2, 2018, at 12 p.m., at the St. Michael's Church in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Survived by spouse, Florence Hickcox, of Keauhou, Hawaii, son, Jonathan-Caleb (Kayla Evavold) Hickcox, of Windsor, Colorado, daughter, Brooke Hickcox, of Savannah, Georgia, and grand- sons, Nalu Timothy Hickcox and Nainoa Robert Hickcox, of Windsor, Colorado, and Beau Hickcox and Miss Grr Hickcox, both of Keauhou, Hawaii, brother, Thomas Sr. (Anna) Hickcox, of Keauhou, Hawaii, half-brother, Greg (Debbie) Hickcox, of Greensboro, North Carolina, brother-in-law, Fred Jr. (Susan) Orio, of St. Charles, Missouri, and sister-in-law, Maureen (Bill) O'Rear, of San Diego, California. Survived by Aunties- Lily Kong, of Keauhou, Hawaii, Louisa (Harry- predeceased) Haanio, Shirlen (Samuel Sr.-predeceased) Haanio, and Carol (Benjamin-predeceased) Crump-Haanio, of Statesville, North Carolina, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old Kona Airport State Recreation Center (Old "A" Pavilion). Luncheon and entertainment to follow.

JAMES SHIZUTO (JIMMY/KIMO) KIMOTOSeptember 10, 1942 December 23, 2017 Our beloved Brother, Uncle and Friend passed away peacefully at Hale Pulama Mau at the age of 75. Jimmy was born and raised in McCully and was a proud Class of '61 McKinley Tiger. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Upon his discharge, he began his career with the Department of the Navy at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard where he retired in 1997. He then began another career with the State of Hawaii at the University of Hawaii. His retirement years were well spent golfing, trips to Las Vegas and Thailand and taking up ukulele making and playing. He is known for having a big, kind heart which led to making new friends wherever he went. Jimmy is survived by Siblings: Gloria (Thomas) Uyeno, George (Sandra) Kimoto, Karen (Eugene) Chang and Colleen (the late Robert) Urata, as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. Visitation at 10:00 am, Service at 11:00 am. Casual/Aloha attire and no flowers. Burial at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetary will be held at a later date.

Gilbert M. KimuraGilbert Kimura, 79 of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at St Francis Hospice in Nu'uanu with family by his side. Gilbert was born on June 24, 1938 in Honolulu and spent his youth in Iwakuni, Japan after being stranded there due to the outbreak of WWll. Upon his return, he attended McKinley High School and then the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged and was buried with Military honors. Gilbert retired from Japan Air Lines after a long and distinguished career there, and also served on the Hawaii Tourism Authority and the Aloha Stadium Authority, He helped shape tourism into the thriving industry it is today. He enjoyed reading, traveling with his family, history, movies, and spending time with his grandchildren including playing chess which he taught them. Gilbert was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Ginny, sons Grant, and Lance (Terri) and 3 grandchildren Jordan, Landon, and Taryn.
