Gwendolyn Kamoani Marino AiwohiApril 12, 1935 - January 14, 2018 Those we love are never more than a thought away, tor as long as there 's a memory they live in our hearts forever. Gwen, 82, peacefully surrendered to God's care on Sunday, January 14th, with three generations of family members close by her side. A beautiful Mom, Grandma, Nana, Cousin, Classmate and Friend, Gwen was best known for her sincere smile, warm personality, passion for sports and tireless work ethic. Gwen, a graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy's Class of '53, was employed by Consolidated Amusement Co. for 40 years before retiring from her alma mater in September 2017 where she served as a clerk in the Admissions and Alumni Relations Offices for over 20 years. After retiring, Gwen continued as a volunteer at Sacred Hearts until a week before her death. Besides being a Mom, Grandma and Nana, nothing meant more to her than being part of the Lancers 'Ohana. Gwen was preceded in death by husband, Waldemar Kuuipo Aiwohi, and mother and father, Violet Hoon Lum Marino and Herman Kala Marino. She is survived by son, Herman Kala Aiwohi (Darcell); daughter, Violet Sweetie Nelson (Rob); five grandchildren, Lindsey Ala (Houston), Brittney Yim (Spencer), Colbey Lobendahn (Justin), Jordan Nelson and Braeden Nelson; and seven great grandchildren, Isaiah & Asher Ala, Charlie & Nona Vi Yim, Nation & Pride Lobendahn and Mason Rutkowski-Nelson. The Aiwohi Family would like to thank Gwen's "extended 'ohana" for their kind words and gracious expressions of love, she treasured your friendship dearly; and the doctors and nurses at The Queen 's Medical Center and Hospice Hawaii who cared for her unconditionally. Please join us as we remember and celebrate Gwen, Sunday, February 25th at St. Margaret Mary Chapel on the campus of Sacred Hearts Academy, 3253 Waialae Avenue. Ku`uleimokihana Cockett AluliKu`uleimokihana Cockett Aluli, age 97, of Kailua, passed away on January 2, 2018 at her home, Ho`onanea. She was born in Makawao, Maui on September 10, 1920, and retired from the Kupuna Program for the State Department of Education. She was a homemaker and beloved mother and nana. She was a beautiful hula dancer, singer and musician and loved to bowl and golf. Together with her sisters-in-law raised the 24 Aluli-Hollinger-Meyer cousins in Kaimalino along the Kawainui canal. She was a member of the Daughters of Hawai`i, the Saint Anthony Parish Community Kailua, and sang with the Kaimalino Serenaders. She is survived by her children, Ronald Chong Kee, Kalai Teves, Noa Emmett Aluli, Pia Aluli, Hayden Aluli, Noa Kekahu Aluli, and Webster Kalani Aluli; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grand- children; 11 great-great-grand- children; three hanai grandchildren and four hanai great-grandchildren; and sister Miriam Kalehua Deering. She is preceded by her parents Jonah Patrick (Pia) and Mary Kaweiokalani Kekahu Cockett; her brothers Mormon, George, Patrick, Frank, Herbert, James and Abraham Cockett; her sisters Miriam, Amy Moikeha, Phoebe Ledward, Zelie Radwin and Mary Joyce Lawrence; and her husbands Noa Tong Aluli and Nicholas Walter Teves. Her ho`olewa, Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Diamond Head Mortuary. Visitation at 8:30, Reflections at 10:00. Lei are welcome. Following graduation, she worked at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and later taught at Honolulu Business College. The greater part of her life was spent as a housewife and caring for family. She was pre-deceased by first husband Clarence Hoopai and son Roger Hoopai. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years Richard Buchanan; sons Rodney Hoopai (Joyce) and Randy Hoopai; daughter Patty Takebayashi (Darrell). She was blessed with grandchildren Adam, Kanani, Alex, Marissa, Kristen and great-grandchildren Hera, Lusine, Clarent. Pat was predeceased by sisters Iris Lee, Estelle Nahinu and brothers Alvin Yap, Curtis Yap. She is survived by sisters Pearl Blair and Phyllis Young. Harold 92, born in the Bronx, NYC, on December 27, 1925 died in his Hawaii Kai home on January 29, 2018. His 32 years of distinguished Navy service included the Silver Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (11 awards), Navy Commendation with "V" (2nd award), Meritorious Unit Commendation, American Defense Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Vietnam), Vietnam Service Medal, Naval Reserve Medal, Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Capt. Griffith was VA-145 Squadron Commanding Officer of the A-1 Skyraider pilots. He led the first air attacks on North Vietnam on 5 August 1964 that included the Gulf of Tonkin incident with USS Maddox and USS Turner Joy and the air strike on Hon Gay, North Vietnam. He made an astonishing 660 career aircraft carrier landings and had 186 combat missions. After retiring from the Navy, "Hal" founded Lion Realty and served as a realtor for ten years. He was an active member of the Waikiki Yacht Club, racing his sailboat, Nalu. He was also a member of the Shrine Masonic Lodge (32nd degree) and Elks Club. He is survived by his beloved wife Carolynn and five children: Susan, Bob (Libby), Rick (Susan), Kathie (John), and Tom (Lora). He also has 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Burial will be at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe at 11 AM on Tuesday, 6 March 2018, with Military Funeral Honors.

Also preceded by sons, James Kalakahi and Francis Vierra. She is survived by her sons, Walter (Charlene), John (Kanani) James K Jr. (Rachel) Anthony (Anna Marie), Peter Ai (Nona), Hanai Sons, Paul Kapu Jr, Harry Kapu, Zachary Kapu, David Kapu, and Jonah Kapu. Daughters, Gwendolyn P Rowland (Albert), Puaala McElhaney (Richard) Hanai Daughter, Lisa Ann Sayers Atchison. Survived by two Sisters, Mary Beazley (Delwin) and Madelyn Medeiros.
