Shunichi Takeuchi
Shunichi TakeuchiShunichi Takeuchi, 92, was born in Kihalani Camp, Papa'aloa, Hawaii, lived most of his adult life in Aliamanu, Hawaii and died in Houston, Texas on January 16, 2018. After leaving the sugar plantation on the Big Island, he worked as a U.S. Merchant Marine, a Honolulu Area Rapid Transit operator, a Ramp Supervisor at Japan Air Lines, a Wood Carver at Paul Fujimoto's, a Porter for Aloha Airlines and a Dog Sitter. He considered himself a "Judo Man" all his life and achieved a third degree black belt in October of 1963. Born to Yutaka Takeuchi and Shizu Tanaka, he had had 11 siblings: Shuntaro Takeuchi, Thomas Nobuichi Takeuchi (Shinobu), Violet Chieko Spencer (Gilbert "Shine"), Harry Takeuchi, Rose Fusako Kaku (James), George Megumi Takeuchi (Ruth), Florence Taeko Yanagida (Tatsuo), May Kimiyo Fukui (Isamu), Clyde Toshikazu Takeuchi (Carol), Mildred Mitsue Camarino and James Satoru Takeuchi. He married Rose Leialoha Whaley and together they had four children: Doreen Takeuchi, Lisa Takeuchi (Isabel), Debra Goodwin (Danny) and Patrick Takeuchi. He had one grandchild: Diandra "Didi" Goodwin. He shared his life with family and friends and we ask that they join us on March 10, 2018 at Diamond Head Mortuary.
