Richard Christopher Witek of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, passed away on March 21, 2018, at Queen's Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii. He had just celebrated his seventieth birthday on January 24. He is survived by his wife, Jan Witek, and his son, Richard Witek, Jr. He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Fredrick and Joan Carr, his biological brother Fred Carr, and his adoptive parents, Ted Witek and Barbara Witek. He was blessed to get to know his brother, John Carr, his sisters Joanie Macbride, Carol Arnhold, and Tina Heebner, their spouses, their children, and grandchildren from his biological family. He also had several cousins from his adoptive family. Rich was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and lived his first two years in the Panama Canal Zone. Then, he lived in Massachusetts and New Jersey. He attended Bergen Technical High School, and after graduation joined the Marine Corps. He was stationed at Cherry Point, North Carolina and had a tour of duty in Japan and Thailand. He was then assigned to recruiting duty in west Texas and the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant and retired after twenty years. He attended Tarrant County Junior College, graduating with an Associates Degree in Business. In 2002, Rich and his wife moved to Hawaii, where he obtained a job working as a defense contractor at Marine Corps Base Kaneohe. He was medically retired after ten years for his treatment of Multiple Myeloma. Rich's outgoing personality made him liked by all who knew him. He was active in his church where he served as home group leader. He was a member of the Marine Corps League in Texas, where he was commandant of his detachment and Judge Advocate for the state of Texas. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League detachment in Hawaii. Rich was also a member of the Corvette Club of Hawaii in which he held an office on the Board of Directors for several years. On the back of Rich's Corvette is the phrase, "I'm living my dream," and he certainly was, living In Hawaii and driving his Corvette. Rich's Going Home Celebration will be at Inspire Church Mililani on April 18, 2018 at 5:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Myeloma Institute at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences. Arrangements Provided By: Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary LLC
