William “Willy” “Scotty” Hanalei Yong Bong Chai
William 53, The man. The myth. The legend - otherwise known as Mr. Aloha of Kamehameha c/o '82. Willy was born on June 26, 1964 in Nanakuli to Lillian (McNicoll) Parina and Roman Chai. He grew up there and in Kalihi, Hawaii. Willy graduated from the Kamehameha Schools in 1982 and from Southern Utah State after graduating from Ricks College, earning a degree in Communications. Willy played football all throughout his educational career. Willy began working for the Hawaii Government Employees Association as a Union Agent in 1992, where he served for 26 years. Willy was an icon in the lower downtown Honolulu area and was known for his warmth, humor and aloha. He was a loving and supportive father and could brighten up anyone's day just by walking in to the room. Willy will be dearly missed by his family, friends and those he encountered throughout his lifetime. Willy is survived by his daughter Madison Olulani Chai and son Jordan Kanai'aupuni Chai of Utah, father Roman Chai, father Victor Parina, brother Clinton (Rosalinda) Chai, sister Tammy (James) Farrington, brother Victorlee Parina, sister Kory (Lawrence) Wilson and grandmother Helen Pi'imanu. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Leilani Parina. A celebration of life is scheduled for Friday, April 27, 2018 at 4:00 pm at the Ke`ehi Lagoon Memorial Center, located at 2685 N.
