HELENE I. ISHIZAKI 82, of San Diego & Honolulu, was born on September 14, 1935 and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 19, 2018 in San Diego, California. Her love of traveling on the ocean lead her to become a member of the Seafarers International Union, where for many years she worked on the SS Independence and SS Constitution as a Pantry Chef. After American Hawaii Cruises, she became a steward on the USNS Mendonca, a military supply vessel that traveled to the Middle East during 2002. She is survived by her children: Gabriele Arnold, Uwe Schaub, Alisandra Mason and Dennis Ishizaki; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and siblings Dieter Paust, Ursula Karabetsos & Rosita Zeilhofer.
