Laverne may BorgesLaverne May Borges, 92, of Kailua, Hawaii, passed away on May 23, 2018 at Castle Medical Center. She was born on April 6, 1926 in Ola'a, Hawaii. She was retired from Enchanted Lake Elementary School with the State of Hawaii where she was lovingly known as "Granny" to many generations. Laverne is preceded in death by her husband, Edward S. Borges, Sr.; She is survived by her children: Juliette (Dick) Harrison, Edward "Skip" (Bernie) Borges, Sharon Borges-Colbert, Kenny Borges, Randy (Debbie Arevalo) Borges; Sister, Dorothy Zetrouer; 10 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren and one Great great grandson! Services for Laverne will be held on June 19th, 2018 at Hawaiian Memorial Park and Mortuary. TED CLARENCE COMPOCTed Clarence Compoc was surrounded by his wife and family when he passed away in Las Vegas on Tuesday, May 22, at the age of 75. He was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, coach, and prankster. He was born in Kahuku, Hawai'i, to parents who immigrated from the Visayas region of the Philippines. He was an avid Kahuku football fan and considered himself a "Red Raider for Life." Compoc earned a BS in Sociology from California State University, Sacramento, and an MS in Education from the University of Southern California. He retired from Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama as the Athletic Director, but he was best known for his many achievements coaching volleyball in California, Arizona, Utah, Alabama, and Saudi Arabia. He is survived by his wife, Julia Compoc (Las Vegas, NV); daughter, Kim Compoc, and her spouse, Joy Enomoto (Honolulu, HI); son, Jeff Compoc, and his spouse, Rita Compoc (Las Vegas, NV); and two grandchildren, Niko Compoc (Las Vegas, NV) and Sebastian Ortiz (Huntsville, AL). His many beloved brothers, sisters, and extended 'ohana span from Kaua'i to New York state. A mass will be held at St. Roch's Church in Kahuku on Father's Day, Sunday, June 17, at 3:00 PM, with a reception to follow. Flowers welcome. Inquiries: Kcompoc@gmail.com.

TAKAKO ENDOPassed away peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Pali Momi Medical Center, surrounded by her family and caregivers. She was born in Waipahu, Hawaii on May 27, 1925. A retiree of Oahu Sugar Companys Personnel Department after 46 years of service. She was also a very active member of the Waipahu Taiyoji Soto Mission as the Corresponding Secretary for many years. She is survived by her husband Seichi Endo; three children Aaron (Katherine), Ivan (Valerie) and Cheryl (Clay) Okada; seven grandchildren Elijah Endo, Kaci Ann, Kaiya Endo, Carson, Camryn, Cayden and Callan Okada. Also survived by brothers, Tsuneo (Susan) Watanabe, Kazuyuki (Bea) Watanabe, sisters-in-law Miki Watanabe and Lucy Watanabe. PETER P.K KAWANANA KALI, JR. A much-loved individual, Master Sergeant Peter "P.K." Kawanana Kali, Jr., 47, of Aiea, Hawaii, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on April 13, 2018 at his home surrounded by family and friends. P.K. was born on January 03, 1971 in Waimea, Kauai, and was an aircraft loadmaster instructor with the Hawaii Air National Guard. He is survived by his mother, Alberta Jardin Kali, his sister, Clarice Kaleolani Kali, his nephew, Kalen Kamalanikaumaka Kakutani, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert and Christina Kali, his maternal grandparents, Albert and Clara Jardin, and his father, Peter Kawanana Kali, Sr. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo, Kauai. Visitation with family will begin at 9 a.m. and mass at 11 a.m. The family welcomes leis. Scattering of P.K.'s ashes will be held privately at a later date.

Annie En Moi Ching Kau

Annie En Moi Ching Kau97, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully at her Maunalani Heights home of 63 years on April 22, 2018. Annie was born in Hilo on November 10, 1920 to Seu Chin Lau of Kohala and Young Ching from Guangdong, China. Annie spent her childhood years in Kula, Maui, moved to Honolulu to attend McKinley High School, and married Raymond S.H. Kau of Kapahulu. Raymond predeceased her in 1982. Annie was a civilian employee of the federal government her entire working career, spending a decade each working for the Army Corps of Engineers, the US Coast Guard, and the US Army Pacific Command at Fort Shafter. She and Raymond were long time congregants and faithful members of St Mary’s Episcopal Church in Moiliili. Annie is survived by her sons Randall K.C. Kau (wife Elizabeth Olmsted and sons Andrew and Timothy) of New York City, and Clayton K.S. Kau (wife, Jaimie) of Palos Verdes Estates, California, and older brother Bernard Ching of Kaneohe. Her five other siblings, Thomas, En Sui, Joseph, Lucy Diamond, and Katherine Spencer, and grandson Nicholas predeceased her. She is buried at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. A remembrance service will be held at St. Mary’s on Saturday, June 16 at 11am, with a lunch reception following the service.
