Beatrice Fung Jun Chang Ing100, of Honolulu an early childhood educator, realtor, world traveler, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and tai po, passed peacefully on June 3, 2018. The eldest of four children, Beatrice Jun Fung Chang was born on January 21, 1918. She attended Stevenson Intermediate and graduated from Roosevelt High School and earned her Bachelor of Education and 5th Year Diploma in Education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In addition, she attended Mun Lun Chinese School for 12 years, creating lifelong friendships and many memories. She was a member of the women's Honorary society Hui Pookela and Te Chih Sheh sorority. Her first teaching assignment was in Kapoho on the Big Island. She then lived in Philadelphia, married Hung Wah Lum and while in San Francisco, welcomed twins Gerald and Kathleen. In 1948, Beatrice joined the United Church of Christ where she chose to praise and worship our Lord, Jesus Christ, with a lifetime of trust, gratitude, understanding and unconditional love. She later was re-married to Walter Tut Yin Ing. She worked for the State of Hawaii Housing Authority as Supervisor of Rentals and retired as Relocation and Property Management Administrator with the City and County Housing and Community Development after 36 years. Beatrice's passions were tai chi and chi kung. She was an avid reader and lecturer of herbal and traditional Chinese folk medicine. Her hobbies included bonsai, theater, artwork, Chinese calligraphy, brush painting and blue and white antiques. She especially enjoyed traveling with her entire family to Japan, Alaska, Mexico, the neighbor islands and short hops to the mainland. Besides spending memorable time with her children, grandchildren and great-grand- children, she loved watching Korean TV dramas. She will be remembered for her keen sense of health and well-being combining both eastern and western techniques, sharing her knowledge of diet, acupressure points, and inspiring all to experience her natural healing abilities. She is survived by son, Gerald Lum (Gat), Kathleen Kajiuye (Roy), grandchildren Sue Lynn Chang, Cheryl Davies, Michael Lum, Julie Kim, Christopher Lum, Stephan Lum and great grandchildren Davis and Alicia Chang and Rylee and Randall Kim and sister, Marie Harada. Beatrice's Celebration of Life will be held at the United Church of Christ - Judd Street on Saturday, July 7, 2018.
