Age 76, Rahul Chattergy breathed his last, June 2, 2018 at Queen's Medical Center. Born and educated in his early years in Kolkata, India, he pursued graduate studies in England after completing his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering at Jadavpur University. He received a Master's Degree in this Field from Imperial College in London. He relocated to UCLA on full scholarship to complete a doctorate in EE. Upon graduating at the top of his class, he was hired by the University of Hawaii at Manoa in the College of Engineering. As a Professor, he wrote and co-authored several books, belonged to professional organizations, and received a Board of Regents Excellent Teaching Award. He was a Professor for 35 years. Rahul pursued many interests after retiring: travel, Art, Astronomy, but mostly he read and read and read. His body was donated to the University of Hawaii's School of Medicine. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Virgie and two sons: Vijoy Paul (May) and David (Maureen) and two grandsons: Liam and Louie. Private memorial services are pending.
