FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Gerald “JK” Kubota
Gerald With sadness in our hearts, we say goodbye to Gerald "JK" Kubota or "Jerry" to his friends and family, beloved husband of Tess Kubota, step father of Rick Grepo, Elena Covington, George and Steve Kubota, grandfather of Crystal Schubert and Ashley Covington and great grandfather of Nicholas, Brooklyn and Jonathan. Jerry was born on November 11, 1944 in Honolulu, Hawaii. After bravely battling numerous ailments for fifteen years, it was time for him to reunite with his parents Thomas and Evelyn Kubota, brothers Ted and Guy Kubota, and sister Carolyn Tamanaha. He passed away at home on July 25, 2018 surrounded by loving family. Jerry challenged life with passion and dignity. He rose through the ranks in the Postal Service holding numerous high-level positions including Director of Mail Processing in Oakland, Postmaster of the State of Hawaii and the Marianna's Islands, Area Manager for thirteen Western States from Alaska to Arizona, managing 3500 facilities. He represented the Postal Service in mail Processing Operations in Europe and as International Liaison in Asia. An avid golfer before his stroke in 2000, Jerry played golf three to four times a week, or more if he could "get away with it". He hit one or two buckets of golf balls everyday after work. Every avid golfer strives for that illusive "hole-in-one". Jerry made two, that we know of---one at the Glen Eagles Golf Course and the other in Napa Valley. Jerry's quick wit and wonderful sense of humor endeared him to many of his family and friends and sustained us through his illness. With respect and guidance he showed to the thousands of employees he managed, Jerry earned the trust and loyalty of many of his colleagues. ~ He will be greatly missed ~ A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018 11:00 a.m. at St. Clare Catholic Church 1950 Junction Blvd., Roseville, CA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jerry's name to the American Cancer Society or Sutter Medical Foundation

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
