61, died unexpectedly at his home in Quincy, Massachusetts, on Thursday, August 23, 2018 due to a cardiac event. Eric was born in Honolulu and graduated from Pearl City High School. He worked many years at the Sheraton Waikiki, and from there became a leader of UNITE HERE Local 5. Several years ago, he moved with his family to Boston, MA., where he had recently retired, spending the last 10 months of his life as a stay at home dad He is survived by his wife, Laura Moye, and their 8-year old daughter Madison; his aunt, Alice Krautheim; siblings: Phyllis, Carl, Lloyd and Lisa Emerson; stepmother Nora Emerson; hanai brother, Arlen Balanon and a big loving family of in-laws who took him in as their own, especially his parents-in-law, Howard and Doris Moye. Services for Eric were held on August 29, 2018 in Boston. A Memorial Service will be scheduled in Honolulu, Hawaii in November.
