MARGARET PANIS ABELLANIDAMarch 31, 1930 - August 1, 2018 Margaret Panis Abellanida of Ewa Beach, 88 passed unexpectedly on August 1, 2018 and is now in heaven with her beloved husband Andres "Andy" Abellanida as well as her smiling grandson, Andrew Afong. She was born on March 31, 1930 in Olowalu, Maui and is the third child of Cornelio and Theresa Panis. Marge is a graduate of Lahainaluna High School and attended Honolulu Business School. After graduation, she worked with the US Army at Fort Shafter as a clerk stenographer; where she received numerous life-time achievement awards for her hard work and dedication. She retired in 1988. She also worked for David's Fencing in Waipahu. She loved bowling at Leeward Bowl and Barbers Point where she and Andy were heavily involved with the Fil-American league. Marge enjoyed watching Korean movies and traveling with her family; especially to Las Vegas. Together Andy and Marge raised 9 children and taught them the importance of a family. Marge has been an inspiration to many of her grandchildren by greeting everyone with a loving smile and hug. She always made time to listen; offered encouragement, strength, and love; and wanted everyone to believe in themselves and God. She had a gift of making everyone feel special and letting you know she'll always be there for you. She is survived by her children, Alvin (Donna) Abellanida, Stephen (Alice) Abellanida, David (Joanne) Abellanida, Roberta (Stanford) Afong, Kathleen Abellanida, Andrew Abellanida, Laura (Steve) Miyoshi, Chris "Bud" Abellanida, Andres "Jr." (Melody) Abellanida; 30 grand- children, 49 great grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Virginia "Virgia" Dofa and Mamerta Ramos and her brother Alfredo "Felipe" Panis. She is pre-deceased by her parents and older brother Marcelino "Barney" Panis. Visitation will be held on Thursday October 4, 2018 at Mililani Memorial Park Mauka Chapel from 8:30 10:00. Services will begin at 10:00 am with the burial to follow at Kaneohe State Veteran's Cemetery at 1:00 pm.

Donald K. M. Au Donald Kwock Mun Au, age 80, passed peacefully on September 4, 2018, at his home in beautiful Manoa Valley. Born in Honolulu, Donald graduated from McKinley High School and was employed as an engineering technician with 38 years of service at Pearl Harbor. In his golden years of retirement, Donald was a regular attendee at his grandchildren’s performances and sports games, active member at numerous RADAU gatherings and sibling lunches, and an avid bus rider. He is survived by his wife, Linda Au; daughters Darcie (Jon) Kawamura and Della (Michael) Belatti, sons Dean (Janelle), Larry, and Lenny (Jenny); thirteen grandchildren; brothers Daniel (Sau Jean) and Dave (Diane); and sisters Norma Lum and Velma (Francis) Fong. A celebration of Donald’s life will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Visitation from 10:00 am; Service at 11:00 am; Fellowship to follow. Aloha Attire.

HELEN BENDETOctober 31, 1938 - September 10, 2018 Age 79, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2018 after a long illness. Helen was the beloved wife of Honolulu attorney Ed Bendet for 32 years and is survived by Ed and by her daughter, Selena Matelich of San Diego, and her sister, Thea Hutchinson of San Antonio. Helen was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Hawaii in 1973, where she lived ever since. Before her retirement, Helen was a legal secretary and worked with Ed in that capacity for 10 years prior to their marriage. Helen had a deep love of animals and was a kind and caring mom to her dog, Rosie, and to her many feline companions over the years. Helen also loved flowers and other plants and before her illness spent many hours a day cultivating a beautiful bromeliad garden in the backyard of her Manoa home. She also loved skiing and enjoyed many happy weeks with Ed and friends at her favorite ski towns in the western U.S. and Canada. Helen had a wonderful smile, an easy and infectious laugh, a sweet disposition, and a bright, fun-loving spirit. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered with much love and affection by her family and friends. ERICH JOSEF BUDERErich Josef Buder, of Honolulu, passed away on July 18, 2018 at St. Francis Hospice. He was born on September 3, 1949 in southern Germany. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, and sister Ursula Goodwin. He was the youngest child following brother, Erwin and sisters, Gudrun and Ursula. Erich excelled in soccer and gymnastics in his youth. He was married to Janice Sumitani of Hilo for 45 years before she passed away in 2015. In 1985, he opened his own auto repair shop specializing in Mercedes-Benz called Erich's Eurocars and remained open until his illness overcame him in 2018. Erich played soccer for Soccer Club Hawaii, Team Hawaii, Meadow Gold Express and with various teams until his late 40's. He coached many teams including the Leahi women's teams with travels to Portland, Las Vegas, Canada, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Following his soccer career, he enjoyed playing golf with his 100 North and Elks Golf Club buddies. He is survived by his son, Jacky Buder, daughter Erika (Wayde) Buder-Nakasone, sister Gudrun Allgaier, and four grandchildren, Treyden, Chelsea, Logan and Payton. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Kaiser Moanalua and St. Francis Hospice, his employees, loyal customers, friends and family for being there for Erich all these years. Erich's celebration of life will be held at Punahou School Chapel on Saturday, October 6th. Visitation 9:00 am, Service 10:00 am. No flowers. Casual attire.

GEORGE TIM FUof Waialua, passed away on September 3, 2018 at age 89. George was born in Honolulu to Flora Ho Fu and George Tiu Fu on June 22, 1929. George married the love of his life Gwendolyn Kauluoa Achiu on January 6, 1951. A proud graduate of Saint Louis High School, class of 1947, and the University of Hawaii, George had a long and accomplished career in the airline industry. At Aloha Airlines for 22 years and Hawaiian Airlines for another 18 years, he worked hard to become a Credit Manager and Assistant Controller at both companies. George was also an entrepreneur and started a janitorial business in 1950 called "The Janitorial Service and Supplies". George was a member, past President and past Treasurer of the Kung Sheong Doo Society, past President of Chung Shan Association of Hawaii, past President of the Kwangtun Community Honolulu Lin Yee Hui and past Vice President of the United Chinese Society. He was also the President of the Waialua Lions Club and held the position of Treasurer for 25 years. George was instrumental in establishing a scholarship fund for the Waialua Robotics Team and the Waialua Band. George loved to "talk story" and captured everyone's attention with colorful details about his life. He enjoyed singing and watching football on TV. His passion was the Korean Dramas. His favorite words at dinner were: "Well, I gotta go watch my Korean!" Although George grew up in Pauoa Valley, his heart will always be in Waialua, where he resided for 50 years. He loved Waialua sunsets with a glass of good wine. He is lovingly survived by daughter Debra Fu (Gordon) Siu; grandsons: Tyler (Kyllie) Siu and Carter (Liane) Siu, and 4 great-grandchildren: Tanner (17), Trevor (15), Kelia (12) and Kanoelani (9) and brother Albert Bucky (Louise) Fu. Major Marc W. Greenwell69, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospice and went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on September 12, 2018. Marc lived his life to the fullest: Eagle Scout, Punahou graduate, life guard at Sandy Beach, collegiate competitive swimmer, college graduate (BA in criminology from CSU Long Beach), avid kayaker who paddled in the Molokai race, skilled skin diver, adventurous backpacker, and around the world traveler. He received a special assignment as police captain in Truk (1978) and retired as major from the Honolulu Police Department at the age of 50 after 27 years of service. In his retirement, he enjoyed taking care of his breadfruit, rambutan, and lychee trees on the Big Island. He lived his life with integrity and was well-respected by his colleagues, family, and friends. Marc was a loving husband, father, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his wife, daughter, son, sister, a niece and nephews, and is remembered and loved by many more. A Private Service was held on September 29, 2018. Donations can be made to the Hawaiian Humane Society or Joey's Feline Friends.
