Charles Kanichi Hino, 89, of Honolulu, a retired federal government fireman, an Army veteran who served in the 100th Infantry Battalion 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II, and a recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Congressional Gold Medal, died in Palolo Chinese Home. He was born in Lihue. He is survived by sons Gregory, Jeffrey, Newton and Ron; brother Yoshio; sisters Clara Kamiyama and Michiko Cosma; and five grandchildren. Private services.
