80Richard Takeshi Kanayama, 85, of Hilo, a retired maintenance supervisor for the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation, died in Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. He also was an Army veteran who served in World War II and member of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. He was born in Pepeekeo, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Setsuko; daughters June Niimi and Marcia Matsui; brothers Robert and Earl; sisters Kazue Unebasami, Michiko Okahara, Karie Wakida and Ruth Tanaka; and four grandchildren. Services: 4 p.m. Saturday at Hilo Meishoin MIssion. Call after 3 p.m. Private inurnment at a later date. Casual attire. No flowers. No monetary offerings.
